Got away with that one, but sometimes that is what you need to do - but we need to be better against teams that manage to counter our press and close down our passing channels. A specialist central midfielder alongside David Silva will make a difference - didn't really work with Sterling there. Aguero was far too isolated most of the time - both Mahrez and Sane were disappointing. Could also do with Ederson making some game winning saves - can't actually remember him ever doing so - though might just be my struggling memory.

But anyway we are through - but need another point to ensure we win the group - a bit of Maths that was beyond the expert commentary on BT Sport.

There are times when Pep needs to play with a double pivot. After the last game against Lyon where 2 or 3 breaking midfielders passed found Fernandinho Pep failed to adjust and Fernandinho was passed round again. We should have lost by 2 or 3 goals but we didn't mainly thanks to Laporte.
BTW I'm sure Aguero had a purple rinse in his Silver Fox button tonight...

Dont know if its old news but Leicester won so we play them away in the League cup.

Thought we were lucky to come away with a point. We didn’t control the ball well enough in the first half. Gave it away a lot and lost too many one on one challenges. Lyon were good and we were weakened in midfield, too many of ours were out of position and out of sorts. We will be stronger for it.

Lyons biggest match of the season and they are the 2nd best side in France. It was always going to be difficult. Result is everything

Yes. Anything against Hoffenheim and we win the group

I think this game will have done our players good, the biggest test of the season so far. It would have been nice to have had a dead rubber going into the last game, to give the youth players a run out but at least we can top the group with a draw, most teams would say that was good going for a CL group stage.

We should have been out of the game by HT, better 2nd half but a bit fortunate to take a point overall. Having said that great determination to come from behind twice.

I can remember a few. This time last year against Napoli away just before we took the lead is my personal favourite.

Perhaps he could have saved their second tonight but these things happen.
