Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

Historically OL have produced some great footballers, now even after losing stars in the last few years (Lacazette, Umtiti, Fekir, Mendy etc) they continue to produce talents. To think Caqueret, Guimarães, Reine-Adélaïde, and Cherki have yet to really announce themselves to the world - stay tuned
I am aware of that but that side was limited. We should have thrashed them.

UEFA taking revenge then

Most definitely

Was always gonna happen at some point

It was up to us to not gift them the opportunity to screw us over.. or at least if we did gift them that opportunity make sure it was not going to be so crucial

We played right into their hands last night. Can just imagine the eyes of the cunts at UEFA lighting up when it happened then pinging off a quick text to the puppet doing VAR saying ‘you know what to do’

I read a stat somewhere yesterday that 90 per cent of games we have lost this season was facing a three or a five-man defence?

Everyone keeps saying we showed Lyon too much respect, maybe Pep has realised this and just tried to combat it. The bigger issue for me was when he saw it wasn't working he didn't then change it.

That's 1 big positive I have seen from Arteta at Arsenal he plays like pep but is more tactically flexible and is willing to adapt.

Tell you what, for a fanbase who alledgedly hate UEFA and all it stands for, regularly state we're not arsed about the CL, we've turned into a right bunch of mard-arsed self-entitled tosspots tonight.

Who actually gives a fuck?

PL or CL? PL all day fucking long.

We can't have it both ways.
Sorry to break this to you but we were out of PL contention by Xmas So how’s that having it both ways?

If you bought a Ferrari that kept breaking down, would you simply be saying “what a lucky twat I am”?

Enjoy your Austin Allegro and Micky Mouse Cup.

P.S. Those who don‘t give a toss about the CL are just a noisy minority. You don‘t spend gazillions just to have bragging right over Spurs and fcukin Burnley.

Very sorry but any team with Fernandinio, Rodri & Garcia as our back middle 3 is asking for punishment, even an average team in France took the piss with 3 easy goals, more pace in my grandparents than those 3

We have conceded those all fucking season, Ederson just doesnt look like saving anything in those situations either its all amateur stuff

Why oh why was Garcia anywhere near that squad? Why the fuck did we even try playing like that just to trial it for the Bayern game???

Its a big let down & Pep & the team deserve all the shit thrown at them & us fans

Very sorry but I still don't feel confident with Rodri as HM

Unless Laporte & Koulabily link up & we sign an out & out LB who can defend better than the tripe we currently have then forget about winning the League back its not going to happen

We now have players like Bernardo, Stones who imo would have been a better choice last night wanting out.

Bernardo must be gutted

Another noticeable problem last night out & out striker where do we go with this, im sick of hearing Jesus put the hard yards in & defends well when he's paid to fucking score goals on a regular basis nothing more sure we need to sort it out

Aguero won't be back firing till October time at least, it takes him all pre season & a few Prem games to get going so where do we go??

We are fucked till CB, LB, CF are bought imo

I felt gutted for Bernardo Silva last night, in his home country where he was born less than 3 miles from the stadium and Pep didn't even give him an opportunity.

You can keep saying the same wrong thing over and over again, it doesn't make it true.
We'll have to agree to disagree. In your opinion, the place a team finishes, in this case Lyon finished 7th, does not necessarily reflect how good they are. They are 7th best over the curtailed season. Teams finish exactly where they deserve to.

I hope people like you have the bollocks to stick to your opinion that Pep is a danger the club and root of all failure when we are successful again next season and don't just try an melt into the background.
Fans can only react to what happens and Pep has this trait of over-thinking perceived problems. We have no way of knowing how his final season is going to develop. For me Pep cost us in both the FA Cup semi-final and the CL QF.

I agree. Had we played to oue strengths we may still have made mistakes but won the game 3- 2.
This team are not world

The guy who let the ball go through his legs did not score. The guy who fouled Laporte did.
My bad I'm afraid. it was meant to say and they subsequently score

As it happens, I knew we'd struggle as soon as I saw the team selection. Mainly because we haven't won a game since the restart when Foden didn't start.
Just one last point Pep, if your going to play a more defensive formation then fucking practice it more frequently so it cones naturally to the players without thinking.
That's it I'm done.
Roll on next season.
