Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

This doesnt seem to be picked up but for Lyons second goal when the attacker dummies the ball the ball brushes his foot. Can see above at about 40 seconds. They showed this in the game last night with super closeup. (Has anyone got a clip?)

It doesn't matter now we didnt play well but this was the pivotal moment in the game.

I thought that at the time. Did touch his foot.

Got to play your best team and formation in a knockout cup game. Really annoyed we didn’t

Yep. It's all about a perfectly confident attitude and players have to feel good to do their best possible performance.

I have the impression Pep's shithousery jumps over to some players and they're afraid to make mistakes - and then they do happen.

But, even when Pep's system was wrong, even if Foden HAD to start and system correction came too late,
we DID equalize and it was game on. In that moment a team has to take advantage and turn the game.
Laporte's sloppy pass in the high line in that moment of the match was unexcusable - like the pisstake VAR decision afterwards.
Even then, Raz must equalize again and we still should have been in the race, going to ET if need be and work on.

Our reaction to bad moments was poor last night. Our intensity in 1on1s was poor, our aerial duels were poor.

Going out again vs a below par side makes it more difficult to win CL in the future. We have developed some kind of complex here and it hurts to say but I don't think we will win the CL under Pep - if he doesn't manage to implement a fundamental change in his mental approach of team management.

I think Pep's mind games are leaving out the human factor of his players. They are no chessmen he can move across the pitch.

Maybe it would have been best to ask the team pre match how they would like to play and do exactly that. It's all about feel good.

Pep can set things up and/or adjust on the fly but at the end of the day players have to execute. Guardiola will bear the brunt of criticism and that's life as a coach yet you don't have to dig very deep to see where the weaknesses are

I get the foul aspect.. I’m on board it should definitely have been chalked off for that alone. I’m just confused about the offside element as take the foul out of the equation to me he still interfered with play as he’s part of the movement with the dummy.
I actually though it brushed his heel on the way through anyway, but obviously UEFA's VAR officials couldn't be arsed examining it frame by frame to find ANY reason to chalk it off like the PL VAR officials did in the Spurs game.
