Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

I am one of Peps staunchest supporters but that was inexplicably woeful. Changing our game fo fucking Lyon. I think it was with one eye at least on saving players for Bayern. Inexcusable- feel utterly dejected. Fernandinho is finished at this level, Gundogan and Rodri together is abject and pedestrian. We have to learn.

Embarrassing season. Miles off the title, out in the quarter finals yet again and the loss Against arsenal in the cup.

Yeah, winning 2 of 5 comps we were in, getting to FA cup semi, CL 1/4 final, and finishing second in the league with a ‘fairly good’ goal difference and a ‘not bad’ number of goals scored.
Really embarrassed I am.

Problem is we're down to only one world class player who is surrounded by some decent but mentally fragile players. Pep's selection would have been okay if we had forwards that weren't so poor in front of goal. Lyon's forwards put just about every shot they had on target. Not much to ask of a professional footballer.

We go into next season with a forward line of Sterling, Mahrez, Jesus and Sergio and the result will be exactly the same.

I wonder if Bayern will change their shape and leave hugely influential creative players on the bench in order to counteract Lyon? Probably not. They’ll play their way and I’m guessing we’re looking at 4 or 5 nil. Really pissed off with Pep tonight.

I wouldn’t be that gutted if Pep left. Players look like they are done with his tinkering and intensity. Happened at every club he’s been at after a few years. Thomas Miller alluded to it happening at Bayern. Season been a disaster from start to finish.
