Madeleine McCann

I doubt they're reading BM, on a thread discussing the case I don't think it's unreasonable to bring up the case for neglect

Yeah that was a more wider point about society giving them a break, not specifically on here.

They still get called murderers now.

It’s not an unreasonable discussion at all no, I used to think it was neglect but have since changed my mind.

Hell, at one point I convinced myself they did it.

Some posters earlier started dishing out insults merely for disagreeing with them, that I don’t get on a thread like this.

So they put the kids in a crèche during the day and left them alone in the apartment at night? Why bother taking them at all if they're such an inconvenience?
ImI sure either set of grandparents would have loved to have looked after them at home while the two docs fucked off on their jollies.

One of my earliest memories was going to Blackpool with mum and dad for the weekend and on the Saturday night they went downstairs for a meal and left me alone in the room. I must have been about Maddie’s age, possibly a bit older. My brother (who is four years younger) wasn’t there. Mum might have been pregnant with him iirc.

I got up in the middle of the night (when they were downstairs) went into the corridor, where this old bird asked me if I was lost. I lied and said yes (not sure why). She took me downstairs to the bar, where her husband was and she bought me a drink (coke) and then my folks turned up a few minutes later. Got a right bollocking off my mum. It could have ended up very differently.

My mum and dad are both brilliant parents. Just because someone has failed to properly evaluate risk when it comes to their kids, doesn't mean they are otherwise shit parents or ‘bad’ people. People are complicated and can simply fuck up without any malign intent.

Very true. Oddly enough, one of my earliest memories is of getting separated from my parents on the beach at Blackpool. I was probably only 3 or 4. In the 60s there were thousands of people on there, much more crowded than it is now.

Someone found me and took me to a caravan specifically for lost kids where I was given an ice cream and told to wait. Sounds sinister these days, but eventually my parents showed up and claimed me. No trauma, no "stress", innocent days.

Irrelevant. You do not leave 3 children who are wholly dependent on your for meeting all of their needs, including safety, on their own.

It’s that simple.
Lol, why is it irrelevant that you and others keep stating that the Tapas bar was 200 metres away, when it was only 77 metres.

Whats the reason that you're peddling this false information and continue to do so?

The sweets post is a bit poor, but i agree with the other half of his post. Smoking in a car with children is as bad if not worse than what the McCaan's did.

Both are unacceptable.

Smoking in a car with kids present is against the law I believe and so It should be. Not sure if leaving your young kids in an unlocked apartment while you go out to have a good time is illegal or not but it should be. One being wrong doesn't make other ok.

The actions of the parents certainly played a part in whatever happened to her. It's just a question of to what degree.

Mmm how many kids each year are miserable , self harm and occasionally kill themselves because of obesity, how many lose their teeth every year , how many get type2 diabetes. I am not saying or even trying to suggest that if you give your kids sweets you are a rotten parent. My kids had some sweets .
But looking at it form what does harm to kids the number of instances of childhood abduction is vanishingly small , the number of cases of miserable fat kids is not.

I'm not saying its acceptable mate, but some folk have wanted them locked up and even the twins removed.

Oh mate i agree that giving them to many sweets is a cunts trick, i was just pointing out its not as bad as other forms of neglect towards children. But its definitely up there.

Exactly, Madeleine was around 3 years of age. This is an age where the concept of danger doesn't really make sense to them, any number of things could happen to a child that age when left alone
Who in the right mind would even contemplate leaving a 3 year old alone while going out for tea??, surely one of the parents could of just stayed in, they are guilty of neglect, yes they are probably suffering for it every day, but so is that poor little girl, the mcann’s fault totally

They could have had them at the tapas restaurant but didn’t because of the time and it being their bed time.

What they ate had no bearing other than location.

Firstly, who the hell keeps their kids sleeping patterns on holiday? Most parents would let their kids stay with them in a pushchair and let them fall asleep with them by their sides.

Secondly, i can't believe anyone thinks it's ok to leave their kids alone, in an unlocked apartment with a road on one side and a swimming pool 75 metres between them and the apartment.
When they're sat selfishly enjoying themselves having tapas and wine, what was to stop Madeline walking out either into the road or falling into the pool? They probably wouldn't hear either happen from where they were.

Cuntish parenting.

Probably a lot of parents.

They could see the main door from their seating area, if that door opened they would know about it.

Yeah who eats tapas and drinks wine on holiday!

While their kids are alone in an unlocked room out of sight? Hopefully not too many.

I wonder how many of those that do would leave their holiday money unattended in an unlocked hotel room.

What they were eating doesn’t matter.

People use it to stir emotion but the only factors that matter are the distance, the length of time between checks, the building, location, building being unlocked etc.

Of course the fact they were drinking matters, alcohol affects the senses, they could have been to drunk to help her if she'd fell into the pool for example. And from 77 meters away, as you keep liking to point out, after a few drinks they probably wouldn't have heard her either.

Can't believe anyone is defending their actions that night, the first job of a parent is to look after their children and keep them safe, something they failed to do out of nothing more than selfish reasons.

Cunts the pair of them.

Tapas is very emotional. If only they’d been eating egg and chips. They wouldn’t get half the flak!
