Madeleine McCann

fucking tragedy but there's other people who have been missing since.

she's most likely dead and unless there's something that can be treated as real substantial evidence then i don't see the point tbh.

real shame though.

...didn't realise she was in a case....did her father pack it?

As some rumours have it he did. One of the investigating officers made a documentary saying that he believes she died of an overdose given to her by her parents so she would sleep and the disposed of her body.

He even showed some rather compelling evidence.

I take it you brought up this thread so you gets these quotes out..

Nice..

"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"It's me Mummy... It's Maddie!"
"But... But it can't be... We buried you..."
"Yeah, I'm just fucking about. It's Gerry, I forgot my key."

Am I going to hell for laughing?

Pmsl. Quality.

On a serious note, I'm glad they are not re-opening the case. How much had been spent on it now that perhaps could of gone on saving hundreds of kids? (that weren't white, pretty and middle class)

Plenty of kids go missing everyday, i dont see large scale international operations to find them.

£2 mil a year it has cost so far but her father went to school with Cameron or one of the posh guys leading so that helps.

A terrible thing for the child, but the reaction and coverage shows how the British media works.
White, attractive, English middle class parents, including a mother who is an ideal poster girl for the Daily Mail? Blanket coverage. It was the same with the girl in Bristol who was killed by her neighbour.
Yet it would be treated very differently in the media if they were from the underclass, or immigrants. It would get much less coverage.

Well, that was almost like the Keystone Cops, that one. The media strategy in that particular case was an unusual and perhaps unique one. It is believed the police even encouraged the family to allow the Channel 4 Cutting Edge documentary team to follow them around, because detectives were so convinced that they they had done it themselves.
For every Madeline McCann there is a Baby P who is not missing but who is enduring a living hell right beneath our noses.

I think enough resources have been used on Maddie now and agree that unless no new evidence comes up, the Daily Express's poster girl (when Diana isn't the front page of course) should be left alone.

Your idea of spending millions on each missing child would be good if we had unlimited funds, but we have a finite pot and as such, more pressing matters should be acted upon first, such as children that are likely still alive.
