I'm being serious. I think the public hysteria over Maddie and donations flowing directly to private detectives was idiotic. That money could have been better served saving thousands of lives of children that were not plastered on the front page every day.

I know mate bit harsh levelling at just him though.
Alot of that public money paid there mortgage as well
Are you 100% sure of that

Just not a realist then?
Are you not paying attention?

He like me has said we think everything should be done & millions should be spent on all children missing regardless of their age..
Read it again. I'm not talking about UK kids now or UK taxpayers money but the fund that was set up.

swp, if my daughter went missing tomorrow i'd be a little pissed off if someone said my child wasnt important because some child somewhere else in the world had gone missing and they couldnt be arsed. i have no control over what happens in sudan or china. i have no power to change those things but if i could i'd try and save all children from suffering
I'm not having a go at the parents but at the twats throwing money at the McCanns. They did have the power to do something about children that could have been saved as opposed to the popular cause d'celebre that particular week.

Any parent wants the world to move for their kid (even black parents in Africa), it's just some have better media advisors.

Though if my kid went missing, if probably work closely with the police and answer all their questions. But I'm funny like that.

What rather than getting the media to prove you innocent when the Portuguese police have arrested you

No not really. It was on the breakdown of how they spent the money they received though. Have to think in any case that might not be as they hardly worked for a year
Then why post it?

They have not touched that fund for personal gain..

To be fair, the Mccanns have tried to use the campaign to promote awareness of ALL children that are missing.

Not sure where you get that info about their mortgage either.

I'm on their side. They know they screwed up that night and have to live with it, but I admire their fight to find her.

It wasnt a one off and they got caught out though was it?

-- Thu Apr 26, 2012 8:32 pm --

Eh?

What do you mean?

Is this yet another thread that lends itself to trial by Internet, based on rumour and suchlike?
I hope not.

You said "They knew they screwed up that night" despite it not being the first time they had done it(there own admission), so it wasnt a one off night where they left all 3 children alone.
I happen to think they should of been arrested for what they did anyway as i would be if i did the same but thats neither here nor there.
Im not giving thema trial by internet i just think they get very favourable media for a pair of half wits

I think giving your kids a sedative, leaving them alone in a hotel room in a foreign country while you fuck off for a bit of Tapas is a bit more than screwing up, don't you?

Ummmm
Ummmm indeed,i wouldnt say it was crime of the century mate..

Lavish holidays and plasma's fair enough..

The police KNOW plenty of people are guilty of things but don't necessarily have enough evidence to convict.

Nb: that's just a general point, I dot know enough either way to decide on their guilt or lack of it.

I don't think they have ever said they left the children alone before?
When did they say that?
Very favourable media? Yes, perhaps at the start. Yet it turned very quickly into a witch hunt for the very same reasons that people liked them for at the beginning; their faith, their media friendly image, their cute little daughter.
Then It turned into the usual English media backlash that turns on the average reader/punter and sells shit papers.

Fair do's mate probably not a bad stance to have on the subject..
Yep bit I can see this thread hitting 30 pages by tomorrow.

Especially if didactic posts his weird sex game gone wrong theory again.

I still wish people would give more to kids charities at home and abroad though without being prompted by 24 hr wall to wall media mind.

When you have time cookie watch this

It is by one of the investigating policemen who was directly involved with the case. You will get all the answers you need and it is up to you to decide what to believe.

Remember the McCanns sued him and banned this but the Portuguese government allowed it to be published over there.

It's the annual Maddie thread, course it will.
For what it's worth, she'll turn up one day, somewhere. As a parent I don't believe it's possible her parents did anything to her, then went on camera as composed as they have been. I believe one day she will turn up.
The McCanns will always have zero respect from me and many others though, quite simply because of how they left their little ones alone...... or Tapas.

Some of us already do. And also have bequests in their will to the NSPCC.

It doesn't need a case like this if you feel strongly enough, or it shouldn't anyway.
