Granted Madrid managed the game very well but we did not want it nearly as much as we should. That De Bruyne's free kick towards the end sums it all up. We did alright in the first leg but the situation was ideal for the players in the second leg for the team and the big players in particular to step up and at least show something and it was disappointing that none of them stepped up. Otamendi had a good game and we were organized defensively so that is a positive. Although I can append that Zidane was as hard nosed as a manager can get in terms of his acknowledgement and respect for our threat on the break if they leave space in behind and so his whole game plan was defense- do not concede space!!, come hell or high water, and the real madrid players did the job professionally with all their experience and quality.
Champions league semi finals is still a very good result this year so Congrats to the players in that achievement but the inescapable feeling is that of ''what could have been'' if the players actually believed.
