Madrid v City CL semi final 2nd leg

Granted Madrid managed the game very well but we did not want it nearly as much as we should. That De Bruyne's free kick towards the end sums it all up. We did alright in the first leg but the situation was ideal for the players in the second leg for the team and the big players in particular to step up and at least show something and it was disappointing that none of them stepped up. Otamendi had a good game and we were organized defensively so that is a positive. Although I can append that Zidane was as hard nosed as a manager can get in terms of his acknowledgement and respect for our threat on the break if they leave space in behind and so his whole game plan was defense- do not concede space!!, come hell or high water, and the real madrid players did the job professionally with all their experience and quality.

Champions league semi finals is still a very good result this year so Congrats to the players in that achievement but the inescapable feeling is that of ''what could have been'' if the players actually believed.

The good - We learned more experience in the CL, 5 years ago, even two years we would not have stood a chance against RM and overall 1-0 over both legs isnt too bad. Nothing else tbh :|

The bad - Why the fuck do they remind me of Arsenal, no urgency, No direct balls, and ffs, the last ten minutes should have been that. It was like the school of tactical thought was go-slow/keep calm!!! It just doesnt work! We need some fkin passion and pride.

The ugly - That tackle, scandalous that the ref watched it and still only yellow. And then the ref getting a pat on the head from ronaldo wtf.

The nearest you'll get to a 1-0 battering. Not one shot on goal in the Semi of the CL, when most of our eggs have been in that basket, is pretty tame.

If Pellers was out to nick an away goal tonight and then turn it on against Atletico, why didn't he do that tonight. Too many extraordinary ordinary performances. We gave too much thought to the striking abilities of Bale and FakeRon and not enough to our own! Very much a damp squib of a performance really. We should have gone out with a bit of a blaze, and if we had lost two or three, at least we would have given it a go. It was such a good chance of going through and we didn't even grab it with one little finger.

Its not the defeat that hurts but the manner of the defeat. It felt like this game really summed up where we are at right now. Where was the intensity? The passion? This was a CL semi final. Where was the onslaught to get that vital goal? How. Many shots on target did we get over the entire 2 legs? Our team can't keep the ball anymore, we don't have players who are comfortable on the ball, yet we aren't defensively solid either. Our ball movement is just so slow, we are hard to watch. We don't pose a genuine threat against good teams because we lose the ball every 4 or 5 passes but we don't have players who can dribble passed a man or pose a threat on the counter attack. Pellegrini and txiki have really torn this team apart. I hope Pep can put it back together but it's gonna be quite a job.

can someone just repeat what Hart has said for fucks sake.
Hart: "We could easily have been in the final but they managed the game well and they've beaten us with a lucky goal.

"They created very little over the two legs - but so did we in fairness. It was a close semi-final.

"We defended well when needed but we didn't have that little bit more.

"I don't know if we did enough to win the game."

Meant to be the pinnacle of their careers and they couldn't give a fuck. Why should I keep parting with my cash for these turds

It's been said before but it's not defeat that hurts it's the hope that kills you. And tonight is just so totally and utterly deflating as I genuinely thought we'd progress tonight.

Scoreline isn't a disgrace when you look at it but i would rather get outclassed and thumped 4/5-0 than to go out like that. They played it like a friendly. Where was the fight? Why aren't we getting balls into the box in the last 5 minutes? We had 1 shot on target all game. Apart from Aguero chancing his arm from 30 yards did we even muster another shot in the 6 minutes injury time? Injury time sums up pellegrini as our manager in my opinion.

Get your facts straight. Tonight we had .... zero shot on target, zilch, nada.
Blimey, what a fight we put in.
