Madrid v City CL semi final 2nd leg

Disappointing way to go out. Madrid really weren't that impressive, thought at 70 minutes we'd have a real go & at least create a chance to nick it - but we just never got going. Slow, ponderous & a lack of ideas. Aguero playing at CM essentially for the last 20 minutes somewhat summed it up.

Have to say I thought Yaya was shocking, picked out 1 good pass over to Clichy, but his work rate was awful & personally I'd drop him for our remaining 2 games and ship him out in the summer in a heartbeat. At one point when we were at the edge of their box, he tried a pass to Navas, it got intercepted & he didn't even bother running back to atone for his mistake - that's not a team player, that's not good enough from anyone.

We wasn't very good but on the whole passed to players in our team. Certain other players couldn't even manage that and didn't try any harder.

I'd have started with Mangala in fact I'd have done the same for the first leg, we've suffered every time he's gone missing... Ota and Manga finally start building something new together which worked fine against PSG and Chelsea and then we change it as soon as Komps is even nearly fit. Today we started well and then confidence was knocked out of us as soon as Kompany went off injured and we never really recovered what we were showing in the early stages of the game... that disruption(we are too easily disrupted full stop even by time-wasters and diving IMO need to be mentally stronger as a team) could have been avoided completely there was always a chance of that happening.

Special criticism for:

Pellers: Substitutions should have been made at half time, along with a rollocking to the whole team for the lack of pressing, hunger and desire in a semi final on the biggest stage they've ever been.

Yaya: The amount of times I was yelling for him to move his ass to get back was a piss take, doesn't offer any running, doesn't even attempt to get in position most of the time. I'm sorry to say he has to go when Pellers goes we can't have that anymore.

Aguero: Most frustrated I've ever been with him, unless Pellers was telling him to move damn near the half way line during our buildups, what's the point in helping us move up the pitch when there will nobody to be aim for when we finally reach a position do something? He needs to learn to stay on point no matter how frustrating it is, give them something to aim for. Also he might not be the best in the air or have a chance of beating ramos and pepe in the tussle but the feint thing he does in the hope that they'll miss it is getting too predictable from him... just challenge if you can don't make way for them and run in behind.

Well, I'm taking the positives. In that, Tranny didn't score, Modric is a wanker, MP is off and Pep is coming and we didn't get a hiding. Still think we won't get top four and would have preferred a full team at the Scummers though.

There was nothing wrong with the defence or the ferns, the problem is the tempo is too slow as has been witnessed all season. That is difference between Pep and Pellegrini, teams are normally a reflection of the manager

Yeah I edited my comment to add I wasn't trying to blame Yaya & that others were just as bad (e.g. KdB). That moment just stood out for me, can't remember seeing another player for any team give a ball away for a counter attack & not bother attempting to get back to amend for the mistake.

I think this season demonstrates well the difference between a team motivated by their leader and a buch of good players playing without focus or desire. One won the rem. The other bowed out of the chumps with a whimper.

I don't hold anything against the players. For me this season is a reflection of the leadership in the club. I don't just mean the manager, although he has to take a lions share of the blame.
