Maicon

Have to doff my cap to him today. I've never been a fan but he offered a new dimension to us when he came on.

I'm not so sure he will work as an orthodox right back, because he can't defend, but he's certainly going to prove very useful when we have three at the back and/or are attacking some of the division's lesser lights.

From a Marwood to Mancin signing in 30 minutes

I don't recall anyone calling Maicon a Marwood signing...
The only thing I even recall close to that were a few people saying he was signed as a sop to Mancini.

As someone mentioned earlier, it was superb to see him turn the tables on Caesar and skin HIM. He did what he needed to regarding Bale, he acted as a brick wall instead of chasing down the ball.

Master stroke by Mancini that today.

Well played Maicon..Loved it how the spuds were chanting Bale Bale when he came on. My lad amended there chant to Fail Fail when Maicon had him in his pocket!

Looking at it now....he could be a really good signing and a valuable squad member for the next 2 years with Richards being so injury prone.

Not read any of this thread (sorry don't have the time!) but wanted to express my opinion that Maicon was pure class when he came on. His passing, comfort on the ball and movement was great to see. I hope he stays fit and can continue the form he showed today.

I expect the opposition, who sang songs which suggested Maicon may be subject to easy pickings from their chimp, are a little embarrassed now.
