Maine Road (Football Away Days)

When I first saw the stand I gasped in utter embarrassment. Ok the Platt lane was in a dilapidated state but to replace it was a shite subbuteo looking scan was a fuckin' joket wasn't remotely funny!
It was a fuckin joke mate!! where was the financial sense in replacing an 8,000 stand with 4,000 seats!! but in them days we didn’t really do things well did we!! thats why we love city ;)

28 years on the Kippax. Loved the place. Only been to the Etihad about 20 times in total, too far away and easy TV viewing these days. Not sure what's the matter with me, probably concern about the impacts of the economic downturn on everybody, but I really am not arsed about when (if ever)I watch my beloved team again. This is from someone who has done Ewood Park promotion, Gillingham Wembley (and stayed until the end), Barcelona in the CL, but not York away P. S. Without exaggeration, I have wrecked a number of TV's over the years when things have not gone to plan. #historicallymyabsolutelifebutseeminglyforwhateverreasonnotanymore

Atmosphere at the Etihad for some games is actually not bad to be fair. This season, the games against Palace and Southampton were surprisingly good, it was pretty loud. Then you've got your big CL ties and Chelsea is always a good buzz. As for being too far away it's quite good on first tier i think. Multiple occasions where the players have come over to the fans and there's been a pile on.

You didn't dream it, it was in a program during the John Bond era. Same roof that was on the Main was to go over the Kippax and matching Platt and North stands. I can see the illustration now, but can't track down the programme.

But the t'internet strikes again,,,,laydees and gennulmen, the new Maine Road:

EDIT: Sorry, just asw AJ's post of the same.

It was also in some(none footy related) magazine. Remember seeing these pics.

It was off Yew Tree Rd, if you walked up Letchworth St you’d be at Heald Place mate.
They would then all jump in a mini-bus and be driven to the ground. I remember a mate quipping: "there goes the Variety Sunshine bus"
*Ahem*
Different times.

once the kippax went from standing to seats, I never went back to maine rd, mind I had my own small business which I had to work Saturday morning so couldn't get over, but I did go to leeds and sheff wed when we was playing them,
