Did you ever walk past a place called Culvers Car Mart? I ask because my stepfather was appointed general manager of it. That's what brought us north in the first place.

Some of the acts on were truly shyte.

Id imagine it wasnt the only club of its time with dodgy acts. A circuit that has all but gone but was very popular in social, working mens clubs etc. Remember the posters advertising upcoming acts, many of whom appeared to wear sparkly jackets and market themselves as "fabulous comedy vocal" etc

I have an affinity for shit old grounds built in the middle of rows and rows of red brick terraced houses. They have a buzz around them that modern stadia will never replicate. But the fact is that if we still had such a ground we would be desperate to move as the world has moved on.

Parkside with my dad for a drink, straight across to the chippy, get in the ground, dad would have a pint and I’d go up to my seat, to watch the players warm up, dad would come up stinking of shit beer and we’d cheer the blues on. Wonderful times.

Definitely Maine Road especially when standing. Kippax packed to the rafters. 100 percent better atmospheres and felt like a proper ground with no plastic fans.imagine a kippax at the etihad that’d be amazing all standing in one massive tier
