When is he eligible for a work permit/EU passport, we might have to keep him in Norway till then? Glad to hear he is still impressing though.

Missed this the first time around. Think it takes 7 years to get a work permit in Norway, so that can't be the strategy. Maybe they're hoping Ghana will make him a regular and he can apply as an exceptional talent? Just noticed that he made his debut for the Black Stars yesterday as a sub.

I would have thought we would be able to get a work permit now that he has made his international debut.

Am I the only one who loves the phrase "calmer than a cat on weed"?!!!

Definitely not

Ta for the vids ManCityMVP, looks like they were uploaded by Mohaemmed himself. Looks a good prospect - good feet, skilful, good range of passing and some very intelligent play. Not the best standard by the looks of things though so I wouldn't be surprised to see him move on to another club on loan before too long

Abu's left footed. :O
Perfect for all those righties in the prem, eh? ;)

Everyone knew he is one of our top prospects on loan, maybe the best. Hopefully we can get his work permit sorted so he can go to a technical league like La Liga or the Bundesliga for a season where he would no doubt flourish. He's already a good passer so he'd have no problems.

Shame the quality of the video doesnt match the quality of the goal.

Abu scored the goal in our 1-1 draw against Sogndal last sunday, proving my point of having an excellent passing/shooting foot, a real woodcracker.

Our coach told the local newspaper:

"The chances of having Abu playing for us next season is very, very small. He has been fantastic for us this season, and is probably one of the best players in the Premier Division (Tippeligaen) at this moment."

Abu answers:

"Ive just signed a two-year deal with City, and Mancini is hoping to bring me over (to the island), but its to soon for my work visa. But, I enjoy my stay at Strømsgodset, and would like to give a great procentage of my improvement to the coach. He has been like a father to both me and Razak, and he has done everything in his pover to make us feel welcome and appreciated.

Can't you guys just tell those arabians to buy Lionel Messi or Sneijder or something, and let us keep him? Please?

Lad looks to be a top prospect. Great distribution, very aware of what's going on around him and impressive movement off the ball, always giving an option for his team-mates to pass to - a quick Gareth Barry anyone?

Mohammed Abu, the Ghanaian midfielder on loan to Norwegian side Stromsgodset, has signed a contract extension with City until June 2014.

The 19-year-old's displays in Norway's top flight and in the Europa League have brought him to the attention of his national selectors, and he has a great chance of representing Ghana at the African Cup of Nations early next year.

Abu joined City in the summer of 2010 and was immediately loaned to Stromsgodset, who he helped to lift the Norwegian FA Cup the following November. He returned for the start of the next season and so far he has racked up 24 appearances, as well as making his debut for his country.

The new deal with City follows hot on the heels of his first goal in professional football, a 35-yard screamer last weekend against Sogdnal - click here to see it, a minute in to the clip.

A delighted Abu told mcfc.co.uk, "I'm so happy to get a new contract, and to see that the club have a lot of faith in what I've done. I am working towards the day when I can wear a Manchester City shirt in a first team game."
