Manchester City has signed 18-year-old Ghanaian Mohammed Abu, who will now go on loan to Norwegian side Stromsgodset until the end of June 2011.

A dynamic, tough-tackling midfielder, Abu recently trained at the Academy and played for the Elite Development side in three pre-season games. He was spotted by the club's recruitment network playing for Sporting Club Accra, having been developed by their Right To Dream academy.

Stromsgodset's sporting director is former Norway and Sheffield United striker Jostein Flo, and Abu will now play for the Norwegian Premier League club in the town of Drammen, just outside Olso.

Haven't read the thread but you should be aware that we have an Academy in Ghana, all the best talent we find in Africa goes there and quite a number come over to City and some will make the grade others not.

I'd be very interested to see a link confirming that. Their website gives no indication that it's the case at all, and even talks about how they have to fund themselves with the Vodafone sponsorship. It's not that I don't believe you, I just don't see any evidence.

Hi guys.

Being a Strømsgodset-supporter I can tell you guys that M. Abu is far, far to good for Norwegian football. He has been outstanding all year long, and at the age of 19 he has been one of, if not the most important player for us this season.

Personally i call him a mosquito, he is f*cking everywhere and irritates the shit out of the opponents.

We sourely hope to keep him next season as well, but we fear he has grown so fast that Mancini will take him back this winter or next summer.

All in all youve got yourself a world class player. If he is this good in Norway amongst our players, I imagine he can be the next Vieira or Essien in 2-3 years time.

thanks for that. i was hoping he would come back this summer but it sounds like the extra year is doing him wonders

Thanks buddy, glad to hear that Abu is doing well with your team.

But I have question, how is his technique ? is he good with the ball ?
Can he do some attacking roles ? or he is pure defensive midfielder ?
