Man City vs Reading - Post Match Discussion

Great to see such good performances from our two teenage defenders, especially Nasty once again making me feel very optimistic about our long future.
Great to come out of that with three points... but...

We are so fucking tedious and cumbersome it's depressing. Are the players forbidden to try a shot from outside the box? Is there a fixed number of passes which needs to be performed before attempting a hot on goal? Or else the player will be fined or something?

Look at Sinclair, who has all the speed a player could wish form, has the capacity to beat a man and get a shot on goal. What does ho do when he gets the ball on our own side, having the whole left side of the pitch open? He brings the ball forward a few yards, and then stop. Looking for a short pass. A little directness would be so sweet!

I will be forever grateful for what Mancini has brought to this club, but even if Reading had one of their best performances this season, we should NOT be reduced to feeling lucky coming out with a win against them at out own ground. We should have ripped them apart today. Really.

So I am glad for the win, but yet again very unhappy with the way we played. Individually there were no real poor performances, which there rarely is to be fair, but as a unit we do not look very impressive.
Got to pull you up on sinclair when he got the ball he never had the whole left side to run at reading had eleven men behind the ball 99% of the game.

How was it disrespectful?

Would have thought it a fairly straightforward selection.

Just in the respects, mate, two teenagers in defence and essentially a three man holding midfield, is not what Reading would have prepared for.

I'm sure it gave them an extra lift/relief when seeing team sheet.

As a blue, my initial reaction was one of disappointment, albeit, Nasty and Rekik can be very pleased with their performances.

just a point who did you want to play at left back

plus everyone has been saying give garcia game time
as for sinclair lol

Would have played a three at the back today.

You can't state it's only right to give Garcia more game time and then LOL at the suggestion Sinclair should get likewise.

Sinclair's known attributes are pace and directness. Surely, more worthy of an experiment today than an additional holding midfielder.

Sinclair is a good player who can become an important one, especially if Mancini let's him loose on cannon-fodder.

Midway through first-half, Mancini switched Aguero out to the right flank, because he had the full-back on toast.

Sinclair would have done likewise and allowed Aguero to stay in more central areas.

Reading are normally a very attacking team, and that has been their main weakness, I guess the team selection was to counter that threat, because that is not how they set up against Arsenal or the Rags, or any other team this season

We left it late but we were not lucky today and we were only poor in respect of our finishing, which has been a problem all season. We dominated and created enough chances to have won comfortably. However, this was far from a wonderful perfomance and Mancini does take muh of the blame for that. I didn't like the starting line-up and thought Sinclair should have started instead of Barry or Garcia, with Agureo as the main striker. I'm also heartily fed-up with playing the wide midfielders on the opposite flank to their strong foot; was it a coincidence that the goal came from a Silva cross from the left, rather than the right? Furthermore, I thought Bobby left his substitutions too late.

all about opinions and hindsight is a wonderful thing and if kompany had been fit maybe we would've played 3 at the back
i also thought garcia played ok and it was barry that was knackard but what do i know barry pops up and scores the goal

We won thats all that matters, this is a post and your other one best saved for defeat, not that it happens much...

Sinclair was a left back originally. Rob could have gone 3 at the back with Sinclair and Zab as WB's.

There are times when it's prudent to gamble. It was clear from 15 mins in that we were struggling to break hem down and needed something different.

Surprised by some of the reactions on here (even for Bluemoon).

We won.
We deserved to win (clearly).
We are driving them crazy with our fight 'til the end.
Different day and we win that five or six nil with the same level of performance.
Three points off top and they've not got an easy game tomorrow.

Happy Christmas.

Barry had a pretty shit game but thank fuck for that. Looking back at it it was a bloody important win, couldn't have afforded to draw to the bottom of the table and 9 points behind United...
