Man notified of burglary via app goes home murders burglar [Liverpool]

Definitely more to this than meets the eye.

Group of 4; 3 intruders and one getaway driver waiting out front in a Merc.
Just after 18.30 at the end of October so wouldn't even be that dark out? Not pitch black anyway.
The female occupant of the house had just left minutes earlier to walk the dog (apparently)....had the house been monitored for activity?
The alleged execution style slaughter of one of the party.

This wasn't just some random lone smackhead chancing their arm in the early hours of the morning and meeting their demise.
The whole chain of events suggests some kind of crime or drugs ring, and I would guess potentially a lot of history (quick edit to say it's been reported that the defendant called the burglar by his first name before killing him....)

It'll all come out in the wash, hopefully.

An alleged murderer told a burglar he found in his home he would 'kill him' if he didn’t confess before inflicting fatal wounds on him, a court has heard.

Karl Townsend appears to make the threat to Jordan Brophy in CCTV footage captured on October 29 last year and played before a jury today. Townsend and his half-brother, Jamie Cunningham, are standing trial accused of the murder of Mr Brophy at Liverpool Crown Court.

The pair allegedly armed themselves with knives after being alerted by Ring doorbell to a break-in at Townsend's Halewood home. Prosecutors say they rushed to the address and confronted the intruders.

Moments before plunging his knife into the burglar's eye, he was heard screaming "You thought you could steal my Television? I'll make sure you'll never watch TV again!"
I think he might have only been trying to blind the guy, so what's that when it's at home in a court of law?

I’m losing some of my sympathy for the home owner at this stage.

Did he subsequently realise that he’d nicked a scarf too and went back to slash his throat to make sure he could never use the scarf either?
