If I was voting on a pure quality on the ball perspective I think I would have given it Fern. However, I just can’t ignore the work rate from Bernardo, over the years I have rarely seen that amount of effort from a City player. Truly incredible tonight.
There was something marvelously amateurish about Fernandinho getting stuck in everywhere and Bernardo running his heart out. It brought me back to the bays of old when that spirit was all we had. Love them both - supremely talented honest to goodness players.
And to be fair there was effort everywhere tonight. Hope our next game isn’t a let down now (as oft in the past has been the case post a great performance)

Fernandinho by a hair - the midfield was just excellent this evening
I image most people who are saying B.Silva were match goers tonight. Watch the game back and you will see how crucial Fernandinho was to that win. He was immense.
And I don’t mean to take anything away from B.Silva; his desire, work rate, commitment and intelligence was vital too but Dinho absolutely controlled the middle of the park and was so key in protecting our backline. Also his vision and decision making in turning defence into attack was phenomenal.

Fernandinho, our player of the season so far. I was convinced his legs would go this year, how fucking stupid, he’s got better.
Bernardo gets a special mention for running himself into the ground. Really believe his efforts at the end to not give Liverpool the chance to keep putting it in the box saved us the 3 points.
