I thought Deansgate is going to be pedestrianised? Is that still to come?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for bikes and bike lanes. The more throughout the city centre and the city the belter. But why give almost 2/3rds of the width of Deansgate over to '2 bike lanes', whilst reducing Deansgate to one lane in one direction for vehicles? It doesn't make sense to me, unless it temporary? Perhaps I'm missing something?

I'd rather see Deansgate totally pedestrianised, including bike lanes.

Those sails with the plastic on them (white) show how these would look on our hotel - a million miles ahead of the MFI look that’s proposed.
