It wasn't an interpretation of the thread it was a response to the comments regarding Mancunians and how even being English is bollox.
No one was saying that. Manchester is a city that has absorbed immigrants from many parts of the world. As the first modern insustrial city it did indeed pull in people from the local areas but it also attracted a lot of immigrants. I lived in Cheetham Hill inmy early years and among the large Jewish community, there were many Irish familes, Eastern European families (Baltic states & Poland mainly), West Indians, etc.It wasn't an interpretation of the thread it was a response to the comments regarding Mancunians and how even being English is bollox.
All this thread is showing is that some people think that immigrants are/were and will be more important than the Mancunians that have been, are and will be proud Mancunians.

Some people want to deny or wont acknowledge that Manchester has a rich history and to be a proud Mancunian is indeed something to be proud of. All this thread is showing is that some people think that immigrants are/were and will be more important than the Mancunians that have been, are and will be proud Mancunians. As you say you hear posters banging the drum about their Irish ancestors but forget to mention that you me or any given other person have ancestors going way back to Manchester.
When do 2nd 3rd 4th generation Mancunians start becoming just Mancunians without having to mention their entire DNA when self labelling?
My familal name can be traced back for about 1000 years to this area, and etymologically back to pre-Norman times. I am, for all intents and purposes as English as English can be, sharing both a Norman and potentially Angle heritage.
Youre all immigrants on my ancestral home. None of you did anything to build Manchester, it was all me. Fucking immigrants coming over here taking credit for the achievements of us Real Mancs

Angle heritage eh? That figures. Always said you were quite obtuse.
