I understand that rubbishing one story, may set a precedent. But this story seems to have gathered pace, and the sighting with Txiki and the agent adds more foundation to it. All I am saying is, if we are sticking with Mancini, I don't think a statement, or just a comment from someone, rubbishing the ongoing Pellegrini link would harm us.

Absolutely no reason not to quietly let it be known that we are not going to appoint MP...

I think we let it be quietly known that we were not going to sack Hughes...and then promptly sacked him.

Sometimes whatever you do you end up screwed so doing nothing is invariably the best and sometimes the hardest strategy.

That said I am still surprised that the story has not been mentioned in the UK based media. In fact the only place it seems to have legs is Malaga so possibly City have had a quiet word to the media here. Personally given that we have had Mancini speculation every week this season (or so it feels like) I can't see the media given this week of all weeks a free pass so something is up. Buggered if I know what though.

Perhaps.

Well we did sack Hughes then didn't we. My only point has been, that really, we should know what is going on with Mancini. IF he is staying, then maybe put a quiet word out.

Like I said though, I don't know the inner workings of the media, or football.

Oh I think saying that you are not going to sack your manager just makes you a hostage to fortune but saying that you are not talking to one or that you have no intention of appointing an individual ought to be safer ground.

I just watched Bobby's pre Final interview on the website and he looked miserable as sin for a guy who has a Wembley trip coming up but the he was looking much happier in his press conference, despite the media wanting to focus on SAF rather than the Cup Final! I really would love to see Bobby stay and shove a whole load of things up the noses of the media by winning the league and the Champions League in the same season and prove my doubts wrong.

Maybe the media are actually showing some decorum this week in respect of Bobby's position. No need for anyone to mention irony.

Actually I just think its a bit like talking to the cops. The less you say the better. Plead the 5th.

I think we can safely rule out decorum. Its damn odd though. Its the dog that didn't bark. You can smell something is up.

Most of the time I'm happy for the club to keep quiet but, on some matters, I think the supporters deserve a bit of guidance.

My nose is twitching.

Bobby to Monaco is an absolute certainty if this rumour is true.

Odds haven't budged and I really can't see Bob going after the FA Cup. Next summer is what I heard, one things for sure. Unlike players, nobody has a solid source on managers.

you sure - here's one Moyes to the RAGs :)

been away for a few days stuck in a cave - have I missed much

Some people knew Moyes was off to Rags before any announcements: the betting patterns that Paddy Power spotted demonstrated that.

The links to Pellegrini have persisted for some time. It seems highly likely that we have been talking to him; otherwise, I would have expected City to put some sort of message to the contrary out. I only hope that they are talking to more than just MP and that has been kept under wraps.

So pellegrina knows we are interested ?? yet there are some on here who say he,s seeing whats on offer at his current club before making a decision..

Now call me old fashioned, but Id only want a manger who saw us as first choice and not as a second option..

-- Fri May 10, 2013 1:31 pm --

Just remind us all again. What age is he ?? OK so therefore he has a lot of years in front of him to mature into a very good player.Just give the lad a fucking break.

that's true but at the moment he is like a young scott parker but with less ability, he might go on to be a great player but he's not great at the moment.

rodwell is streets ahead.

Hey mate ignore my last post as its obviously me whos talking pissed up !! lol Only just realised we`re on about Razak.Wondered why one or two were thinking Rodwell was shite !!

oh ffs you two... I thought you were talking about Stevie Ireland..

The club have briefed nothing, only silence, even for requests for off-the-record steers.

It's one thing not to react in public to every story that floats about, very different to guiding narrative.

I am of the firm belief our press officers don't have a clue what is going on, and why even should they?

They are only told something when they need to know. That way they can't compromise either themselves or the club, they have relationships to maintain.

Regardless of the outcome tomorrow, I would expect lips to become a little looser over the next 48 hours as to the landscape.

"For me, it has been a great honour and pleasure to compete against Sir Alex for three years," said Mancini. "It was a great honour to beat him in Old Trafford and I wish him good luck for his future." The Cabal would have us dispense with this great orator.

I would be gutted if Mancini made way for Pellegrini at the end of the season. I would rather have Bobby all day long. I hope he gets at least another season & gets backed in the summer with some decent signings.

Maybe this is why the club haven't briefed you.

Doesn't suit this thread's agenda though does it?
