Top job.

Now when are they going to start streaming the U18s & EDS matches? I'll happily pay a monthly sub for that.

Are many other clubs doing this? Seems like we are just putting ourselves at a disadvantage unnecessarily.

Hamburg apparently ;-)

The game will be no riskier or strenuous than a routine training session.

Some time ago, circa 2000, the missus and I had a winter break in Tenerife, managed to get a great deal on probably the best hotel on the island. When we arrived we discovered that Chelsea were staying there. At about 10am the players would disappear for a couple of hours to train before returning to spend the afternoon around the pool. Contrary to my pre-conceived expectations they were a very pleasant, polite and well behaved bunch of lads, although i do remember one of them moaning to all and sundry about a tackle that Denis Wise had made on him that morning.

Me and fbloke badgered Chris Bailey about this on Twitter a while back (as it was getting built) when they were a bit more open with information. He said that there are no plans to do this at the new stadium and the infrastructure wasn't getting built in anywhere. Not sure if that's changed but it wasn't considered in the original designs.

I'd sign up for a streaming service for their games, definitely. Netflix is £8, WWE Network is £10 a month, something in that price range would be cool. It would have the problem of dropping attendances though for games not on the same day but I can't imagine they're hugely bothered about that when they have potential revenues at stake.

Same. If a Kompany or Aguero gets an injury over there I'll be fucking livid.

We already have too many games in England and this bullshit needs to stop.

It's hard to imagine how this fixture has come about.

Perhaps our owner had a say in this.

Chelsea have to play both LC semis against Liverpool before we meet them, more chance of them suffering
injuries and red cards than we will.

When yer own the place, lock, stock and Suisse Gas bridge, and yer can't get to any of the home matches, then yer get the team to come over to yer back yard and play! S'only what I'd do!

Honestly i could not give a hoot who plays and what formation, i just want them back all as fit or fitter than when they go on the pitch.

Aye, we all get the need for this promotional stuff but we have to balance that out.
It could be argued for the best stand in the football auditorium these "promotional" matches should be pushed further away from the main aims as it were. Lose Kun and go down by 1 goal difference or some other horrid demise.
It's not really a money-spinning promotional game though. When the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi wants to put on a game to mark the first anniversary of his team's new stadium, you don't ask questions, you just get on with it. That's what we signed up for back in August 2008, and considering all the positives we've had from our relationship with AD, I'd say this is a relatively minor inconvenience.

Really don't see the problem other than the travelling. It's timed perfectly for the team to get a warm weather break. More minutes for Edin, Sergio and Komps which they desperately need. It's very unlikely that anybody will get injured with a bad tackle it would be a twist or strain which could just as easily happen in training in Manc. Nasri's strain was in training as an example.

I can only see positives to be honest.
