I would be gobsmacked if we didn't play two strikers at home. Even though it seems logical to go with Dzeko as loan striker that smacks as though we are changing to suit Liverpool, my understanding of Pellers if they will change to suit our style. Just my opinion.

I agree that I think he'll play two up front, but personally I'd go with the team shown above your post.

I'm surprised people think that changing and playing with 3 in midfield would be a good thing. It's almost like the batterings we dished out to all and sundry at the Etihad last season didn't happen.

We played two up top against Bayern and got one of the biggest dominations your are likely to see in a Champions League game between two top sides.

This Liverpool side are lethal on the counter and I personally feel we are not fit enough yet to play two in midfield against a top side, I could be wrong but if we go with two in midfield we could play into their hands in my opinion.

SMH. Some of you will never learn. Have faith in the manager and the players. I'd say they've all earned the right to be believed in by us lot.

I'm with you. IMHO last season when we played the top sides , the only times we were totally outplayed, were when we started with Yaya and only one other in central midfield. Need to start with 3 in there otherwise we will end up chasing the game.

And when have we ever chased a game at home in our recent history ?
Meant to add, we were never really outplayed at home, even in defeat (in the league).

Our aggregate record against the top six at home from last season is 17 - 6. Sadly I can't add the 4 goals we put past the rags in there because they aren't a top 6 side!

Yeah I agree, against most teams we'll play two up top but for certain Premier and CL sides we'll play mostly with the trio of Yaya and the two Ferns. Yaya is basically a supporting forward when he plays in that role anyhow and Liverpool will try and stretch us by playing it wide but our two "holding" Brasilians will counter this threat in my opinion.

That is why it's one of the reasons we signed Fernando isn't it because of certain games last season?(Bayern, Chelsea and Liverpool where our two in midfield struggled)

To be honest, a 4-4-2 with one of the strikers (Jovetic probably) dropping deeper to help out when we don't have the ball, or a 4-5-1 with Yaya in behind the striker, are not really that different, are they.

Personally, I'd favour the latter, but so long as our two strikers don't stand around up front on their own, either option will work.
