Manchester Evening News

Here is the Crux of it Stuart.

The crap written by Lynch , published by the MEN and subsequently defended by the Editorial team harms you and your reputation. You have worked hard to gain credibility with the City readership and in the main do a good Job reporting on MCFC. However this prick and supporting cronies have destroyed much of you good work in one foul article.

If I were you I`d be looking for a new organisation to work for. You must know that certainly in the short term the stuff you read will now have a lower number of views and readership and it will once again be viewed suspiciously. Guilt by association I suppose.

I for a good few years now have hardly clicked the MEN mainly due to fact I have more choice. Most city stuff is replicated here so that does me. . I did however occasionally read your stuff but now I wont be doing that due to the editorial stance of the paper. I won`t be clicking as no matter how good your writing is I wont support the MEN.

If I were you I`d be seething at this crap and would be in with the boss now demanding it is removed as it is harming your career.

Someone's hacked oakie's account. You should have used a less obvious password than "crutch" mate.

Yes I should have used "crotch" mate.

-- Thu Feb 06, 2014 1:46 pm --

Have they said if they will remove the article. ?

By all accounts it still appears to be going strong.

We will support your decision to burn your stockpile of back issues (cup winners issues aside)

Hahhaaaaaaaa. In all honesty bob,I have stuff going back to the 1960`s from the MEN Pink supplements. Some things cannot be discarded.

As many of you will know, that over the years my loyalty for the MEN has never wavered and I have "enjoyed" some fine banter on this forum, with my fellow Blue Mooners.
Having read the MEN for some 35+ years,it was our only link between the Club and Supporters and what was happening with regard to transfers, the usual bi-yearly take overs and Swales Out-Lee In Bandwagon.Certainly stuck out here in Mid Cheshire,it was our saviour, along with anything that we have caught from those Saturday afternoons with Picadilly Sport being the other source.
Over the past few years I have been the most staunchest fan of SB and argued his corner, ref his fine coverage of the Blues, even though I knew of his old allegiance towards our bitter rivals. That will continue,as I firmly believe that Stuart has now changed certain views on how Blues now perceive him.
However,in light of this stupid article and the response from all Blue Mooners, including myself,my head tells me to carry on purchasing my MEN,but with a heavy heart it could well be the end of seeing it ever again in the Oakes household.
All the great work that SB has done over the past few years,on this forum, has now disintegrated into oblivion.Stuart, not your fault mate, but some cretin within your organisation thought a nice cheap shot at City would help your newspaper to gain a response from the Blues, but never, ever in the way your colleagues could imagine.
Whether an agenda is there,I am not certain, mainly due that I do see the MEN every night and read all articles, either criticising or giving some positives.Indeed even my Rag mates hate the MCEN,as likewise they have the same slant on feelings exactly as we do.
I come to the conclusion that my support towards the MEN is now at a all time low, something I have never felt before. But at the end of the day my feeling for my Club runs stronger than the support for a supposed "local newspaper".
Amen.

Very well put Oakie, in an earlier post I touched on the same thing, I have always enjoyed the musings about our club of Messers Brennan and Keegan about our club and feel I would be cutting my nose off to spite my face should I decide on a boycott as I would miss them sorely.

24 hours on and still no apology from the MEN or (as earlier posters have stated - I haven't clicked on the link since the story broke) taken the offending article down.

I have a lot of time for Stuart Brennan and appreciate him coming on here and trying to defuse the situation but he hasn't gone as far as apologising on behalf of the MEN for the inflammatory pack of lies churned out by Lynch and - incredibly - passed as a suitable article to post on the website by more senior staff. Why doesn't the editor of the MEN have the cojones to hold his hand up, admit it was a dreadful and insulting piece against the premier football club in the paper's circulation area, disown the article, take it down from the MEN website and apologise?

Everything since Monday then at least ? I will try and buy a copy just so I can burn it

Of all the people who have took exception to Lynch's atrocious article, I suspect the most pissed off person will in fact be Stuart Brennan.

All that hard work of trying to build a positive relationship and engage with City supporters blown to smithereens in the space of one day, and it's not even his fault.

Another trick the Mirror/MUEN has been playing of late. Especially when an article first appears in the Morning.

Click on the article, be it News, Sport, or Business, and the website takes you directly to an advert, and not the article. Do it again and the same thing happens. And again. F*** off!

Another reason not go bother with the MUEN. Directing readers straight to adverts, instead of the article.

I'd love to hear what the club have said to them, they may have burned their bridges for good

IMO,SB has had his say last night, which in certain quarters on here, wasn`t very well accepted. However if the Editor makes any attempt to come onto this forum, offering some form of explanation and apology, then it could slightly help their cause.
The old adage "after the horse has bolted ..." springs to mind".However an apology doesn`t appear to be forthcoming.
