Manchester Storm - Ice Hockey

We bought ourselves some half season tickets to storm, they kick in soon :)

It's been getting busier each week.

Magnificent game. I was a regular at Storm games back in the day and loved it.

Really hope they go from strength to strength.

I never went to the Storm games, but remember - along with the basketball - when they played at the MEN Arena that yes they had thousands going but most were on free tickets. Once the free tickets stopped, so did the ''fans''.
Problem was half the time they'd be playing on a midweek game going well past 10pm with extra time...... really not appealing to parents with school kids going along.....
I would listen occasionally to commentary on GMR and it was ''YMCA'' and ''We Will Rock You'' every 4 minutes - style over substance.
No idea how they remain professional on the crowds they get (assume they are pro) - dont wish them any harm but still can't see it ever taking off in the UK
I loved going to Storm, they had attendances of around 12,000 a game and once hit 16,000. But Manchester is a tough city to sell any sport other than football in.

Currently on a 4 game winning streak after a 5-2 win over Dundee on Saturday and a 13-9(!) away win in Edinburgh on Sunday

I've got to say, I'm a secret Pheonix fan - been to a load of games cause I'm mates with one of the players. The new Manchester Storm are a bit of a joke club to be honest. It's all happened because someone at Pheonix fell out with someone at Altrincham and Altrincham needed a team to keep the Ice Rink going. Pheonix are moving back to Manchester next season hopefully so would be good for a few more people to go!

where in manchester are they moving to
I reckon they could play at he gmex decent size

Going to my 3rd game tonight against Sheffield Steelers. Last time I went against Nottingham Panthers they lost 4-2 and have since gone on a 6 game winning streak. If Storm lose tonight I'll have to stop going, clearly a jinx!

A joke club? Compared to pheonix? Your having a laugh?. I went to quite a few pheonix matches when they were in the elite league and then when they dropped down to the lower league. Can honestly say pheonix were dire compared, always a damp squib atmosphere, and those cheer leaders were cringe worthy.

The fact that some pheonix fans come in and sit with the away fans is so sad it's funny!. All money in the storm pot :)

There were reports a month or so ago pheonix were close to administration, in the evening news, trying to find links now.

A fair few of the regulars are old storm fans from the arena days, over 1k fans every week and has even sold out the rink once, the highest pheonix managed was 1057. Tonight we had 1352, at a mid week match.

It was a good match, shame we didn't quite do enough tonight. A few of the players lost there rag and we had too many 5 on 3 power plays against us. The end of our 6 match winning streak! Thankfully Coventry lost as well so status quo on the playoff run up.

It was good to see local boy Swindlehurst get a major cheer when he was introduced today.
