Manchester Storm - Ice Hockey

It's a custom arena they are trying to build.
So they havent even been granted planning permission or anything YET they plan to start playing again next season? Lol...

How would the EIHL feel about having two MCR teams in the league?
They might like it...

Never felt anything for Phoenix, although I used to go and watch the Storm quite often at the Nynex as a kid.

I want to go and watch a few games at Alty, but it's a bit of a mission.
Would be great if there was a team more central to mcr centre.

£15 for an adult ticket, with a roof over my head...can't whinge much!

Unless there is new news I cant find this was the last thing about the arena they want to build

Phoenix are in the lower league (EPIHL) so its not an issue at the moment.

Its well worth the effort. There is a great atmosphere going on at the moment. Last nights match was as tense as hell!.

It was a good match, shame we didn't quite do enough tonight. A few of the players lost there rag and we had too many 5 on 3 power plays against us. The end of our 6 match winning streak! Thankfully Coventry lost as well so status quo on the playoff run up.

It was good to see local boy Swindlehurst get a major cheer when he was introduced today.

Really enjoyed it again, and Storm would have won if the Sheffield powerplay didn't get so many opportunities. 3 times I've been, 3 defeats! I don't want to stay away though, so I'm not admitting to being a jinx just yet!

I wish ice hockey was bigger over here, when you get a good game is brilliant. I saw the Boston Bruins when i was over there and it was brilliant, top night out

I'd love to see an NHL game, something I will probably never get to do unless they bring some games over here similar to the NFL at Wembley, but like you said ice hockey probably isn't popular enough in the UK. I live in Altrincham so will definitely be getting to more Storm games now I can afford it. Obviously it's not NHL standard but there are some seriously talented players from what I've seen so far and it's a great few hours of entertainment.

I wouldnt worry about the Jinx effect. we lost a lot to start with, which is understandable with a brand new team, but in the last month or so we are really starting to tick. A couple sat next to us last night were season ticket holders at Cardiff who were up this way so decided to come and watch, they basically said that if our back line was as good as our front line we would be way out in front of the league.

I really want to go to an NHL match too, maybe next year, we're looking at heading to Canada on Holiday around Feb so the season should be in full swing.

Hopefully Swindlehurst will add something to the defence, if not immediately definitely in the future with him only being 22. I've been really impressed with Scarsella, he's a tidy player and probably the most likely to make something happen in the games I've seen. I was impressed with a guy that played in the first game I went to, a penalties loss aganst Fife, Matt Caria, but I've not seen him since. Has he left?

Went to quite a lot of Storm games in the 90's at Nynex and always a decent night out. Even went to a few aways at places like Sheffield. One of my mates is passionate about 'em and was over the moon when they reformed last summer, so got sucked in a bit again myself. Very unfortunate last night by all accounts but things coming together hopefully. Well worth watching a game if you fancy giving something new a try and the support would definitely be appreciated.

Regarding Phoenix, this was posted this week (the website of the company who will be building the new venue) www.icetechuk.com

I used to watch Storm at the Nynex when I was a kid as well and always had an interest in ice hockey. When Phoenix moved to Alty I started going again, only 7-8 times a season when Phoenix were in the Elite League. When they dropped to the EPIHL I must admit I lost interest for a bit, but I've really got the feel for ice hockey back again now Storm have reformed. I'm by no means a die hard fan and City always come first, but if I get the chance to go I will do from now on. It amazes me how fast the game is so God knows how much quicker the NHL is to watch live.
