Manchester traffic

Thursday night thought I'd attempt Regent Road into town seeing as it was about 6:30. What a fuckin mistake. Took me about 1/2 hr to do a mile from the end of the M602 to where it goes down to 1 lane near Sainsburys. Could have walked it in half the time. Not going anywhere near it again until its all finished in a year

Just over an hour and a half to drive from Chapel St., Salford, to Cheadle Hulme yesterday, using Mancunian Way, Upper Brook Street, Kingsway/A34. Set out at 2.15pm.

It brought it home to me just the state of our road network yesterday when I had to drive from edinburgh to Swindon. 40 mins lost just south of Manchester, 45 mins lost at stoke, another 40 minutes doing the tour of Birmingham because of the M6/M5 works. Couldn’t help noticing the Northbound traffic from Swindon almost all the way into Birmingham was snail pace stuff. How the hell do professional drivers put up with it. 8 hours 15 minutes to do 360 Miles. Maybe I should have taken the train...oh no wait.

The lack of investment in our transport infrastructure is bloody criminal.

Took me 3.5hrs to get from Eccles to Birmingham yesterday afternoon. And the good news is that the smart motorway will be completed in 2022! 4 more years of this shit.

I love the M60 around Hyde and Stockport in the morning, and the Cheadle turn off which actually turns me on! I get to play on my phone all nice an illegal :)

Worked for Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook!
It put them on the map:

Manchester seems to be incredibly fast to the car park that is the M6.
Left home at 11:45 on Friday and got to Knutsford about an hour later. There was a 64 minute delay between junction 19 and 18, so we headed towards Northwich then Middlewich and on to Sandbach and re-joined at junction 17.
Then the next delay was an hour and 26 minutes between J16 and J14, which the sat nav rerouted us for. I figured the hold up earlier might make it easier so stayed on and got through with about a 20 minute hold up.
Then got delayed going onto the M5, it was actually quicker to miss the turn off, go to the next junction then come back up.

It’s total shit. Who are these people building more and more flats in Manchester , putting more people in Manchester despite fewer roads , no public transport except a tram which uses the fucking roads and clogs it up even more

It’s that daft , we have so many people now living in town there is actually a traffic jam in the evening of people in cars getting back into town to their flats. It’s bonkers.

Don’t worry the Xmas markets will be here soon it’s so much better then!!!!

I went into town Friday night at 7:30. The traffic was jammed both directions on Whitworth Street, worse than at rush hour. I agree with the argument about the additional homes being built with no investment in infrastructure. The Metrolink doesn't move nearly enough people and until a circle line is built round the M60 it will remain only of use to those who live nearby a station.

0730hrs - Just took me 30 mins to get from Pendleton island on the east lancs to Salford crescent train station - it's about 500 fucking metres!!!!!!!'
