Mancini: Are you an 'inner' or an 'outer'?

I'll stick with Mancini.

I think he is astute enough to know where the weaknesses in the team are, and those weaknesses will be corrected in the coming transfer window.

However, that said, I'm not blind to his failings in the Champions League, and I would not be surprised if he was on his way out if we have another poor showing next season.

Ultimately, the final decision rests with our owner, and I don't think any of us really know what his thoughts are about acceptable performance.

I am an Inner (at the moment).

The question I am assuming the owners/management are asking themselves is whether Mancini is the man to implement their philosophy throughout the first team and the academy, or whether Mancini's philosophy is what that they want to implement. Hell if I know.

As we saw with Ajax and B. Dortmund. Young teams with a strong philosophy are really good. City creating a world-class academy makes me think they want to cultivate youth. I don't really know what Mancini's credentials are for bringing up young players into a system. I know that he highly rates young skilled players like Balotelli and Nastajic, and overall had to mesh his choices with players that already were at the club. I don't think he has been particularly impressive in creating a squad with a ferrocious work-ethic; however, he has managed to keep together a squad of superstars that have to sit on the bench more often than they would like. I am ultimately in no place to judge him and can only wait and see what happens.

Outer.

I can't see Mancini being subservient to Soriano or Txiki's proposals because he doesn't see himself as a cog in the wheel but rather someone who should have full control of the situation. His ego wouldn't allow him to comply.

Why should he? He's been successful without them. Leave the fella be, let him have the players he wants then judge.
Careful mind he may be very successful, what on earth would the outers do then.

Considering Mancini is in a constant battle with the pro rag media and corrupt establishment hence the reason this thread even exists he is doing a great job.

Mancini is the most successful PL manager since he's been here so I think the outers need to have a word with themselves or get back on their xbox's.

In

However I stopped reading at the mention of him not changing tactics to counter Everton and Spurs away but no mention of his going to 3 at the back change v Spurs at home or the numerous times his substitutions worked earlier in the season, Dzeko at WBA for example, which changed the game, got to be a balanced article surely.

Couldn't agree more, well said Sire

If we want stability, then in undoubtedly.
If we want progress in the CL, then out unfortunately. I don't think Bob is tactically cute enough to compete with Europe's elite.

are you serious?

the group we had no English team would have progressed out of that and even the best managers can struggle in the Champions league just look at Barca and Real madrid

It doesn't matter who we have as manager it will take some years to progress in the fixed chumps league

I for one am very happy with Domestic success and don't care about Chumps league
Mancini is turning into our best ever manager and if he can keep us in top two in league and win a domestic cup or two I think anyone who wants more needs to give their fucking head a wobble!

pity some people were not as quick to jump on that clown Hughes the people who defended him on this forum were a disgrace as are the people who are getting on Mancini's back we are not and never should be like the rags but that is what some posters on here sound like

Mancini is not perfect but I don't think anyone else could do a better job he has earnt the backing of all City fans and even if we have a Trophy less year he deserves to be given another couple of years

the anti Mancini threads on this forum are embarrassing to say the least

your last line says it all.

Must admit I don't really get this thing about Mancini not being tactically astute enough for CL football.

I don't think that the CL teams that have beaten us did so through superior tactics, they just played better. I don't think Mancini told Barry & Rodwell to get caught in possession and concede critical goals, or told our defenders to defend set pieces like statues against Ajax.

We clearly need to do better in CL games. Winning our first game might help.
