you cant compare the two, Mancini had to build from scratches, we never finished top4 before him, winning mentality did not exist at City, that was a very hard job to win the Fa Cup, then win that title.
He had shortcoming in CL, group stage losses especially, slow build ups,, too much depending on individuals upfront rather than good attacking play, he did not give a shit for FFP and we were in the middle of restrictions which created issues with the board while he also had issues within dressing room and players lost respect for him too in the end.
But for me Pep was brought in to get the breakthrough in CL finally after Mancini and Pelle could not, and to date still Pelle's semifinal is our best CL record.
in that year we beat PSG in quarters and we only lost to the actual winner that year.
With Pep we lost to Monaco, Liverpool, Spurs, Lyon, none of these won the CL that year and none of them had the strength of City squad.
He did well on domestic front, the treble and record season and winning title back to back was immense. We should have built on those successes instead of going backwards...
But the real danger is here with Klopp he can do back to back title this season unless we challenge them and he did CL final 2x times in a row and won the second. And they did spend less than Pep but simply their recruitment much more hit than miss compared to ours.
If Pep leaves after this season with another CL failure, that could be 5 years of him not being able to get to even semifinals once. Something never happened to him in 3 years at Barca and 3 years at Bayern but happening here 5 out 5 times? Add in the clubs that stopped us in CL and the picture looks worse.
