the guy i would like to see here above any but one

oh god
I like Steve Coterill as well, did a good job at Pompey. I've been told we're after a young English manager in the "Phil Brown" mold.

-- Tue Apr 12, 2011 9:27 pm --

i'd go for Boothroyd or Simon Coleman.

Cyrille Regis - the man for the job.
Just checked, no coaching badges. While Boothroyd is the best man out there followed by either Coleman or Coterill. Phil Browns name has also been mentioned in briefings.

I'm Mancini in, have been since the day he arrived.

but he's starting to worry me now, very bizarre some of the things he's doing.

Exactly how I feel mate. Yesterday was a disgraceful exhibition, not just from the manager but every single one of the players. I try not to post on the day of match if we lose but having thought about it for 24 hours I am still angry and ashamed. We didn't even try and that is what hurts.

I respect your opinion bud but I am not having that.
Liverpool were excellent last night and would have troubled any team.
I was not happy also but liverpool just had one of those nights you get once a season
If you are lucky.

It's becoming harder and harder to defend Mancini. I'm another who has backed him as long as possible even over the prospect of Mourinho coming in (based on the fear that we'll be another pit-stop for Jose), but he can't seem to get results with any consistency whatsoever (nor performances). At times, very brief times, this season, we've looked as good as some of Europe's elite teams. Then within days we've looked worse than Wolves going forward. It makes no sense, our club is a real Jekyll and Hyde.

If we lose the cup game with a turgid performance, I think my own opinion will finally complete a 180. If we go down fighting, that might be a different situation as Mancini will have finally had the balls to go all out against them.

Not taking anything away from Liverpool. They played excellently. They wanted it more than us in every department, from the team and formation handed down by the manager to the way they carried it out on the pitch. We looked like a bunch of strangers last night.

Bobby has built a team of bottlers with no fight or passion for the big games. I really fear for City on saturday.

Mourinho isn't coming unless he is sacked. Mourinho inners should hope he loses all four El Classicos coming up against Barca.

Quotes:

"My future is Real Madrid because I have a contract and because it looks like the club is happy with my work," Mourinho told reporters.

"My future will be in England, for sure, but my future is after Real Madrid.

"I have a contract for three more seasons and I hope I will do well enough to deserve to continue here."

Assuming Mourinho isn't available this summer, which seems to be the case, I'm genuinely interested to know who those who want Mancini out would replace him with.

Not meant to be antagonistic, as I'm also losing faith with the current incumbent, but obviously there has to be a viable candidate to replace him, and there doesn't seem to be an abundance of them out there.

Sacking Mancini for the sake of it wouldn't make sense, so who do people think would a) be available and b) improve the team sufficiently?

Carlo Ancelloti?

The "safe" choice is probably Hiddink but I'm not as sold on him as some others. Look at his recent record, it isn't outstanding. He couldn't even take Russia to the World Cup.

The "high risk" choice is Villas Boas who at worst would have us playing better football, he is tactically astute and learned from Mourinho. You run the risk of him not delivering at the level he'd be stepping on to though and also the possibility of our highly paid egos not believing in a 33-year-old manager.

Doubt Guardiola will be available until 2012/2013 so unless we take a gamble on someone like Villa Boas, maybe it would be better to stick with Mancini.

I have similar reservations about Hiddink, and Boas would represent a huge gamble.

Ancelotti is a feasible candidate, but he's not had a great season either.

I honestly think someone like Owen Coyle would improve this team. He did a fantastic job with Burnley, is doing great with Bolton, and has a good eye for young players, nuturing Sturridge and Wilshere. That is what City needs to be built around in my opinion, hungry, young players, keen to prove something. Not guys who are going to be here for one last big pay cheque. He plays positive football, knows whats required in England, and commands respect.

There are plenty of options, that don't include Mourinho. Villas-Boas, Hiddink, Tuchel, Emery, are all possibilities.

True about Ancelotti this season but last season (before Abramovich starting sticking his oar in) he won the double. Also, after tonight he is almost certainly gone from Chelsea.

Yea, not guys who are going to be here for the pay cheque, unlike most football managers on the managerial merry-go-round! Get real. Mancini is looking 5, 10 years ahead to build something, and he'll learn the ways of the English Prem, given time. You have to believe he has the intelligence.
The only foolish thing to do would be to de-stabilise the team and get a new man in. It would set us back years in our overall development.

Like others on here I'm waivering in my belief of Roberto as the man to carry us forward, but having read this thread I haven't seen one suggestion as a replacement that really floats my boat.

ye dont know who id want to b honest,i know i started the thread but finding a repacement will be just as difficult as coming to the decision of keeping or sacking him
