If you look at the "spine" of our team: Hart / Kompany / De Jong / Silva / Tevez .... you would have to say that is a pretty good platform to build on.

Chuck in Yaya + AJ and most managers would relish the task of filling in the gaps + coaching the squad.

A couple of speedy full-backs...some added pace in midfield...a dominant central defender...an aggressive high-tempo approach to games ....and surely success will follow.

Mancini has:
- not bought speedy fullbacks
- not brought in a dominant CB to play alongside Kompany
- not instilled a high-tempo mentality in the team
- not addressed lack of pace in midfield

....despite having virtually unlimited funding, and an entire summer transfer window + pre-season working with team.

I don't think we are that far off having a trophy winning team... but I am not sure that Mancini deserves any credit for this.
His tactics do not inspire ...and his "big-game" mentality seems far too cautious.

With the squad we have....we should be winning things.

Frankly,as someone who has suffered City's highs and lows for over forty years,I am sick of hearing this 'more time' bollocks.
How much fucking time have we had to endure since Tueart's overhead kick gave us our last glimpse of glory?
Purely in my opinion,you could give Mancini all the money in the world,the Barcelona midfield,the luck of Baconface,and the rest of eternity,and he would still win nothing in the English game.
His tactics are naive and negative beyond belief,his team selections are head-scratchingly baffling,he plays players out of position and out of form,and he has the motivational skills of a corpse.

What do you make of Mancini's own admittance that we need new attacking players next season, including possibly even wingers for Dzeko? 80% of the players we're being linked to at the moment are attacking players like Sanchez, Mata, Coentrão, and even Wilshere (not happening that one). Does it not suggest that Mancini will, with some tweaks, play a more attacking game like we did against Sunderland and several other teams?

And one other thing to consider - our central midfield is creatively bankrupt yeah, but Mancini had hoped for Boateng and Kolarov to be attacking full-backs, which would surely have compensated quite a lot for the lack of creativity in the middle. Unfortunately, and yes this is Mancini's fault for signing the wrong players for those positions but still the idea was there, both have been flops in their full-back positions.

It would say to me that Mancini has admitted he has got his plans/philiosophy all wrong this season.

Apparently we need wingers now, yet his apologists previously insists his fabled 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 with the mercurial talents of Boateng and Kolarov, providing the width, are not, and have not, been the way to go?

Took him £150m and 12 months to discover it.

I'll go as far as to state that more than 50 per cent of the team hate Mancini's guts.

How do we then progress without a gigantic purge, if the club are retain faith in the current manager.

With the squad we have....we should be winning things.

But Mancini does not want to play a "high tempo" game. He wants to play a patient probing game where we win due to the opposition not having the ball (see spain at the world cup)

And this idea that Mancini's signings have been rubbsih:

Balotelli - Age 20 - If he sorts his attitude out (and there have been signs of that) he will be one of the best strikers in the world - time is on his side

Silva - Age 25 - Only going to get better

Milner - Age 25 - England International young and versatile - any of the big 4 would want him - only going to get better.

Boateng - Age 22 - Struggled to adapt but clearly has talent he is versatile and going to get better.

Kolarov - Age 25 - I have little hope that he will improve but he is youngish and remeber Evra's first season - if we don't get coentrao lets see what a complete pre-season can do.

Toure - Age 28 - The only one who is not young - he has everything, fantastic technique can be a bit hit and miss but is generally one of our most important players.

Dzeko - age 25 - Every single person who watched him in the bundesliga knows he will come good - just give him time

His signings are the clearest indication to me that he will be here for a while - he has signed players with the potential to be superstars rather than established players.

Peter Reid... hmmm, maybe. But jobs coaching at Stoke and managing Plymouth don 't really suggest a quality manager. Did a decent job at Sunderland, though.

But Sven, since leaving us has managed Mexico to a standstill and is now plying his trade aiming for a play-off spot in the Championship at Leicester, and Royle ended up down the divisions at Ipswich and Oldham.

It is my belief that the board will give Mancini their backing , with the result of the disaffected being show the door. We are not in the position of a Big Club where a winning cluture is ingrained despite the regular turnover of managers.

As said by Liverpool for the last 15 plus seasons.

The rot has set in and we are going backwards. Nothing since Christmas suggests Mancini can adapt or change his style. We will not progress without a change in management, either by style or personnel. If we finish 4th, which on current form I don't think will happen, there is very little in the transfer dealings of Mancini to make me think he is the right man to spend and improve this team.

Whilst tactics are undoubtedly a part of it, especially for those who feel they are not used properly, I believe the main reason he has alientated much of the first team squad is the way he personally handles the players and their personal situations. It made the press about the way he treated Micah in the dresing room. That caused a serious fallout amongst the players. And there have been lots and lots and lots of other incidents throughout his entire tenure.

There is no belief in his abilities, a respect for his workings, that's the whole point.

People can lament about formations, signings, the price of fish.

Footballers are a precious bunch, they need to 'buy in' to their managers.

Mancini's man-management is rarely seen as an issue, but it is a pivotal one in the weeks ahead.

A couple of posters disregarded compliments last week about Mancini perhaps 'bending' in terms of the meal out.

It starts with mutual respect, then players are more pliable.

And as an extension of that, perplexing that pro-Mancini posters cannot rationalise such a split exists between manager and large sections of the playing staff.
