The Utd team don't convince through their performances, but their finishing power is unbelievable. The best I have seen.

No mystery. Rooney and RVP

On the plus side, they'd be nothing without these 2. What happens when they are missing, or lose form?

This season the League maybe gone, but they'll be hard pressed to keep these 2 together, and on form next season. RVP will be 30 next season. Not particularly old perhaps, but he relies on sharpness in the box, andplays so much on the shoulder of the last man so enjoy it while it lasts rags, because it will be brief. I'm a little less confident in City at the moment, but Utd wont have a season like this any time soon.

agree they are most likely going to loose ferdinand and carrick who has had a good season cant keep it up for long,

loosing the title to them might inspire us and give us a bit more fight and belief for next season.

The only thing good about us this season has been our defence.

The rest of the team needs a big shake-up, whether through new players or a new philosophy/attitude.

I'm 50:50 on Mancini right now, on one hand he did recognise in the Summer that we needed to invest to push on and we didn't back him, on the other hand basically the same team has gone backwards.

I can't decide if it's one of those situations where a couple of key additions to the side would provide fresh impetus and we'd kick on next season, or if the problem is systemic.

I think it might be time to part ways, thank him for everything he's done (which is a lot) and let Txiki and Soriano bring in their own man. We saw what happened when we stuck with Hughes out of principle rather than reason - we wasted a whole lot of time and money without going very far.

First of all i am not Mancini's biggest fan due to his lack of a plan B & have felt this way for a couple of years. But it serves no purpose to make a change now because>
1) There is no one available who is better, namely Mourinho because him & all the better Managers are employed.
2) Instability & constant chopping & changing is one of the reasons we have been in the doldrums for decades before the Sheikh came in.

Mancini has given us our first two major pieces of Silverware in 3 years (Don't include the charity shield as its a glorified friendly) & deserves loyalty & respect.
I am as frustrated as most City fans are with his tactics, lack of a plan B, signings like Nasri & stubborness not to bring in good wide players as an alternative to our posession style of play.
As soon as i saw the teamsheet V Saints i was very concerned> Lescott & Garcia Have no pace & Nasri over Milner?! WHY?!
He keeps making mistakes with the team & is not getting the best out of a squad that he mostly assembled & is responsible for.
It reminded me of City of the past when we were a YO-YO Club, it pained & embarassed me to see it happen, what was worse is that you could see it coming yet Mancini did not react & change it.
I have no doubt if Mourinho was in charge we would be doing alot better than we are & i am sure if we fall away this season there will be a change in the summer.
But the man deserves till at least the end of the season before pushing the button & i would be fine giving him another season PROVIDING he learns from his mistakes, despite my Mis-Givings.
Sadly though i do not think he will.
But lets not all jump on his back, Afterall it is not ALL his fault as alot of the players need to take a serious look at themselves.
Time will tell.......

We have a DoF now who will provide the continuity and long term strategy. It's 99% certain he'll be here longer than Mancini, if keeping Mancini is at odds with his long-term vision then making a change as soon as it's realistically possible makes more sense than hanging on to a manager out of respect for what he's done for us in past seasons.

Yep whatever moody rag,whatever mate!!
I'll put my mortgage on it you're a rag, your comments are just too obvious, like i said i'll stand by my opinion, you're definately a keeper tho, don't get rid of this one mods,we could have some fun with this little dumpling!!
well you've just lost ya mortgage then! Think what you like if it makes you feel more of a blue! Fact is you can't meet me at the game so I can prove it because you probably never go to the game or know where the stadium is I think we both know who's the true blue and who's not.

dont worry mate, problem with some on here if they dont like what they read the first natural reaction is rag, its pathetic.
cheers fella I have noticed that when they're not clever enough to put a good argument across that the rag comment comes out. It's a big insult to say the least!

Time has come for us to say thank you and move on. people are asking for him to be given another season to finish the job. The problem is his doing exactly that, finishing the job by damaging the clubs public image.

Let's imagine for a moment that we DO sack our most successful manager ever.

Will that make ferguson and utd worse?
Will that stop Chelsea spending to improve their squad?
Will that stop the possibility of Liverpool improving next year?
Or spurs?
Or arsenal?

If the answer to all the above Q's is "no" then lets say we end up with mourinho (please god, no)..

What if utd STILL push for the title (which they will), and god forbid, win it next year? What if (as is highly likely) we get another "group of death" next season in the CL?

We could be sat here next year in a very similar position, having spent millions on sacking and recruiting managers to say nothing of any player purchases.

What do we do then. Sack the new manager?

Really?

This whole debate is an embarrassment. I don't believe there are another set of fans anywhere in the world as obtuse and frankly ungrateful as some on this forum.

If what happened to the scum last year on the last day had happened to us our fans would've burnt the ground down. Their fans rallied round their manager and team and are likely to be rewarded with another title.

Hate to say this but many on here could learn a thing or two about suppiort from our hated neighbours. It's a similar story with the way our fans treated ballotelli in contrast to the way the filth treated cantona.

Embarrassing.
sorry but this is absute rubbish we've been embarrassed in the champs league and not played well all season and to top it off mancini slating players off in public something fergie would never do! If united went out of champs league like the way we did they would be calling for fergie to retire. With that said comparing mancini to fergie is ludicrous!

26 posts, guff about Taggart, use of the word bitter. Bore off back to the swamp

In future years we may look at this season as being pivotal.

It has been a real wake up call for several reasons, the main one being complacency.I dont believe the powers that be will allow us to ever lose such momentum again.

We will almost certainly revamp a tired, limited team and hopefully have a more suitable manager in place to aid that process, one that will also buy into our future vision and make the progress we should have continued this year.

I believe the short term pain will be well worth the long term gain.

I’ve been a big supporter of Mancini but I’m starting to question whether he’s the right man. This isn’t a knee jerk reaction to the game at the weekend, Southampton were excellent and we had a shocking day at the office, but Mancini bewilders me more and more. Firstly, his tactical decisions. He took off our only centre back to go to 3 at the back. Our defense consisted of two wing backs and a midfielder (yes I know Garcia’s played centre back before). I just don’t get it.

Secondly, he makes some strange statements to the press. He seems to target certain players for criticism (most notably Hart!) quite regularly while letting other players get away with abject performances.

And most worrying for me is his style of management. He seems to work under an air of confrontation and I’m just not sure that is the best way to manage a lot of footballers. I guess the question is whether this style gets the best out of them? However, it looked at the weekend like a number of players really couldn’t give a shit and you have to question if it has anything to do with their relationship with the manager.

He’s won us the prem league and FA cup so he’s due an amount of support and loyalty from us, which he vocally gets at every match, but the moment we start moving backwards then we have to question his ability. He wasn’t backed in the summer like he should have been so for me he’s due another chance at the title next season, but whether he’s the man to bring us a champions league or long term success in the league is debatable.
