Mancini Press Conference

Who knows, maybe if the club can't negotiate deals for all his targets, the manager may actually have to seriously consider building bridges and bring certain players back into contention rather than just giving them away because he doesn't like them?

It's what most managers have to do.

-- Fri Aug 12, 2011 1:46 pm --

You can tell the seasons started again.

Come on mate, stop standing on the sidelines blowing raspeberries, let's have a viewpoint rather than a pithy quip!

Do you think the manager should have a sulk because the club have not, as yet, negotiated all the deals he wants?

Or should the manager be more pragmatic and make beter use of the resources he already has at his disposal?

I imagine half the problem is having to look at 4-6 chumps everyday at training and them looking like they aren't going anywhere.

But yes he's starting to remind me of Benitez and that's a scary thought.

He's increasingly becoming like a spoilt fucking child if you ask me. He's the most privileged manager in world football and half the time he acts like he's carrying a poison fucking chalice .

I sometimes think he plays on Abu dhabis, and cooks, lack of football experience.

So you dont care for him then?

I was under the impression he was your best mate so Im a bit surprised at your comments today.

I'm not surprised Mancini's pissed off!

I mean, we've only signed Savic, Clichy and Aguero for a mere £52m...having spent getting on for £100m in the previous 18 months.

The bloke is working with one hand tied behind his back... ;-))
Ho hum.

Should I also have added that in all likelihood the club will have provided him with Nasri for a fee in excess of £20m by next week?

What's his beef?

I'm sure he didn't get treated this well at Inter! ;-)

I have stated for some time now that the art of management isn't simply to sign cheques for star players. And I doubt if the club, increasingly, support that view either.

Of course there is more to management than buying star players. But we have been trying to make pretty big leaps in terms of performance and Mancini wants to make another one now. The reality is that making the leap from 3rd to winning the league and being competitive in the CL is going to take some doing. Amongst other things, this improvement is going to require a better and deeper squad. united finished comfortably ahead of us last season and they have spent 50m this summer so far. I think it is fair to say that Mancini is right to say that we need to sign some more players. Also I think it is perfectly reasonable for Mancini to want to have the signings done by the start of the season and within reason to be frustrated that it hasn't happened although I also accept that from Marwood and Cook's perspective, it probably isn't always that simple.

I love Mancini but get the feeling when he gets the 2-3 players in this window, in January he'll say something like "I need more players, I don't have enough. [...] Iniesta, he is the difference between 2nd and 1st." He never seems satisfied. Its abundantly clear that we need an attacking midfielder (why didn't he buy one instead of Milner though?) but I really don't see what else we need. We have three strikers with the potential to bag 20+ goals a season, we have plenty of water carriers, plenty of defenders, two established full-backs on each side, and two international goalkeepers. We don't use wingers much yet he wants Cerci it seems, when he could keep SWP and/or Weiss for the occasions we need an alternative to Johnson.

OH stop your hate please, its get boring reading your posts about how much you hate Mancini! we all know that by now! if i were him and it was my ass on the line for being sacked if i not reach the club goals, i would do the same.

Its so damn pathetic that you cant support our manager, he toke us to 3rd and won the FA, but still you just moan and moan and moan.

The most successful managers never are, look at the tosser over the road, he's always looking to improve his squad even after they win titles or the CL.
