Should I also have added that in all likelihood the club will have provided him with Nasri for a fee in excess of £20m by next week?

What's his beef?

I'm sure he didn't get treated this well at Inter! ;-)

I have stated for some time now that the art of management isn't simply to sign cheques for star players. And I doubt if the club, increasingly, support that view either.

Of course there is more to management than buying star players. But we have been trying to make pretty big leaps in terms of performance and Mancini wants to make another one now. The reality is that making the leap from 3rd to winning the league and being competitive in the CL is going to take some doing. Amongst other things, this improvement is going to require a better and deeper squad. united finished comfortably ahead of us last season and they have spent 50m this summer so far. I think it is fair to say that Mancini is right to say that we need to sign some more players. Also I think it is perfectly reasonable for Mancini to want to have the signings done by the start of the season and within reason to be frustrated that it hasn't happened although I also accept that from Marwood and Cook's perspective, it probably isn't always that simple.

I accept all that.

But at what point does the club have to draw the line?

If Arsenal hold out for £30m... do we pay? Keep Mancini happy but fuck up the budgets? Or do we have to revise our targets?

It is extremely diffiicult to land really top players, that's why so few move. We've signed a real top notcher in Aguero. He's liklely to get Nasri. Apart from signing Sneijder, what other targets have passed us by?

Even if Mancini is pissed off, he should not be showing it in press conferences.

When players are less than positive in press conferences or the media, Mancini would stamp on them. So I believe he should follow the same principle as to "if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it!"

He sounds like Wenger or Benitez when he whinges about this Woah Is Me attitude..

I love Mancini but get the feeling when he gets the 2-3 players in this window, in January he'll say something like "I need more players, I don't have enough. [...] Iniesta, he is the difference between 2nd and 1st." He never seems satisfied. Its abundantly clear that we need an attacking midfielder (why didn't he buy one instead of Milner though?) but I really don't see what else we need. We have three strikers with the potential to bag 20+ goals a season, we have plenty of water carriers, plenty of defenders, two established full-backs on each side, and two international goalkeepers. We don't use wingers much yet he wants Cerci it seems, when he could keep SWP and/or Weiss for the occasions we need an alternative to Johnson.

I dont think anybody can argue we didnt need a creative midfielder this transfer window, plus you always look to replace the players who leaves that means we needed to replace Viera and Boateng, we also imo looked thin on the leftback position last season.

Thats 4 players that its not unreasonoble for Mancini to want signed, if we were gonna lose Tevez then we needed to replace him aswell that makes it 5 players.

Mancini told the board he wanted these playsers in as quickly as possible yet at the start of the season we have still only signed three new players and are 2 short.

If the board expects Mancini to challenge for the title and be succesfull in the champions league then they have to back him in the market.

I agree with you on SWP though seems daft to replace him with some nomark from Italy.

why is that? boateng and Veiria has gone. and he wants two good players on each posstion.

you to the math.

GK - Hart & Pantilimon
LB - Kolarov & Clichy
RB - Richards & Zaba
CB - Kompany & Lescott & Savic & Kolo & Boyata

DM: De Jong & Barry (& Yaya)
MF: Yaya & Milner

AM: Silva (& Nasri imminent)

W: Johnson & SWP & Weiss

FW: Aguero & Tevez & Dzeko & Balotelli

Then he has willing players he could call on but refuses to like Bellamy and Onuoha who have shown they are at least good enough to be fringe players.

Then he has one of the best reserve/youth setups in the league and players like Guidetti, Nimely, Wabara, Assulin, Suarez, Roman, and Veseli who would be starting for some PL teams and are the sort of prospects that could develop into much more with game time.

I really cannot understand his argument, we have so much depth, the only thing we are starved of is some creativity, which Nasri will fix - and we also have the uber-talented Assulin/Suarez/Roman trio to call on if necessary. I can fully understand the need for Nasri and could possibly understand the need for a ball-playing midfielder like Banega, but is there any sign we're even in for one of those?

He's increasingly becoming like a spoilt fucking child if you ask me. He's the most privileged manager in world football and half the time he acts like he's carrying a poison fucking chalice .

I sometimes think he plays on Abu dhabis, and cooks, lack of football experience.

He doesn't, and that would be a shite attitude for him to have. Should he really just be thankful for managing this club, or should be be motivated to utilise what he's got here to get the most out of us?

The manager said he wanted the targets they had compiled in before pre season, the season's kicking off and the target we've been after for, for a couple of months, still hasn't been brought in.

I'd be pissed too... given how expenadale a manager can be and how fashionable its become to sack the manager. I'd want everything i want in place for me to ensure the club is successful.

We are weak at midfield despite numbers.sun showed we need someone to carry the ball.someone to push yaya.

No, I'd rather he didn't make his frustration so obvious ideally. But I do understand why he is frustrated. I certainly don't think we should give into Arsenal over Nasri, imo if they don't accept 22m, we should move on given his contract situation and that it looks like he has expressed a desire to join us. As I said, I can also see from Cook and Marwood's point of view that it isn't that simple to get targets in as quickly as we would like especially if they are trying to be less frivolous with the owner's money. I don't think Mancini has done too much wrong though in the scheme of things, he just wants the squad sorting.

Mourinho wanted Valdano's head , has fought for it and eventually had his head on a silver platter

Valdano in the world of football was a fish much bigger than Cook and Marwood. but mourinho got his head.

Mancini wants the head of Cook and Marwood , its clear for all to see. but must demonstrate the ability to fight hard just as Mourinho did.

otherwise he is going to demonstrate that are right who say that Mourinho is better than Mancini.

I don't think Mancini has a lot to complain about, but it staggers me how clubs are running around a day before the season starts trying to get work permits and build squads.

Surely these sort of things should be sorted a good few weeks before the season starts. 3 points in August is as valuable as 3 point in May, so I don't get why so many clubs go into the early part of the season unprepared.
