Mancini Press Conference

every top winning club is based on 3 things :

1) a great owner

2) a great CEO

3) a great manager

ATM i'd say City owner is every's football fans dream , mancini's a proven serial winner , unfortunally i dont know what has Cook achieved in the football world and so what prestige he has got

The owner employs the CEO. The CEO employed the manager.

You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Not a happy man imo.

Constantly repeating the message that the season is about to start and the club haven't signed their targets.

When Supporters can't receive their Seasoncards in good time then I shudder to think how the Club organises the pursuit of Lionel Messi. Can Mancini only bring success with money?
Not sure he'll do it either way, if he aint happy he can jog on, I'm sure there's plenty who would feel they can do better with this bunch of players anyway, city is like a Ferrari being driven by an old granny at the moment!

Beautifully put, NM.

I'm a big supporter of Mancini but he sounds like an ass with these comments from today's press conference. Like he said, he knows its a difficult market, but he still has 20+ players at his disposal this month.
And it's a fucking good team may i say. Half of the PL managers would give their right hand to have the possibility to manage a team like that.

Can we not have one bloody season where are all behind the manager, hughes split the fans mancni splits the fans, isn't it about time we all pulled together. I was and still am to a degree a Mancini sceptic but I reckon he's well earned the chance to be left to do things his way. Cook and marwood whom both I admire lay down the requirements for last season and Mancini pissed it, I for one think he'll go on again given total support from the owner, the CEO and the fans on here.

These splits in the fan base does the club no favours at all, as we all know the press are desperate to find negatives about us, derail us, well let's not give a fucking thing they can turn on us.

A season, that's all I ask.

Agreed, we should all be looking forward to the start of what will hopefully be a great season and getting behind Mancini, the players and our beloved club.

Just been looking thro some old programmes and came across Cambridge away, Dec '83 - a nil nil draw, got piss wet thro in torrential rain watching on an uncovered terrace having driven 3+ hours - and now look at where we are - c'mon lads, lets get off to a great start and show consolidated support and belief in what might be achieved this year:)

The suggestion that Mancini is a naif in the world of agents and transfers... let's just say it tickles me.
Of course he isn't, which is why he shouldn't be making stupid statements to the press.

His job is to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Last Sunday and for much of last season we weren't even close to being equal to the sum of our parts.

Our targets last season were a trophy and Champion's League qualification, both of which were delivered.

I think too much emphasis is being put on last Sunday. We were unquestionably poor, but it was essentially a pre-season friendly against the second best team in Europe, which we lost with the last kick of the game.

Whilst I agree that Mancini should keep his counsel, let's at least wait and see how this season progresses before we pass judgement.

I agree with that. What's done is done even though I believe a lot of other things fell the right way for him last season. But he's now got a largely settled squad, even if it's maybe not quite the one he'd want, and has had a full pre-season. Managers have to play the hand they're dealt and he holds a better set of cards than most others.

Oh just like Khaldoon,Cook,Marwood,Kloss,Stemp,Wallace,Halford,Rose,Summerbee,Kidd,Uncle Tom Cobley,Old Mother Riley and her hen,Spot, pot a bottle of pop, etc. ................................... went to mow a meadow.
For fucks sake, every fucker is to blame, but at the end of the day I am certain that they are all trying their best for Manchester City F.C. !!

Whilst I'm fully behind Mancini he needs to be patient bringing in these big transfers like Nasri and appreciate Cook & Marwood's sound intentions.

When the Glazers rode into Old Trafford, Fergie was well established as 'the man' at the club and had already built an unquestionable legacy. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but has he said a thing about the Glazers? - including when they were holding the purse strings a little tighter than at present. This may have been born out of self-interest but he certainly could have got away with a few choice digs during conferences. Make no mistake he wants Sneijder badly and every journo in the land has been told this by the club as much as he denies it publicly. I'm sure he knows the signings he's been afforded aren't going to give him a greatly improved hand when they come up against Barcelona again, whereas Sneijder would have...but again not a word about the owners in the public eye.

Mancini has been backed to the hilt by the board as has Mark Hughes but I don't think it's appropriate to be making any reference to higher management because we don't just want to give Arsenal a silly figure for Nasri as if he were tied down on a 5year contract. I'm not saying I don't understand Mancini but this shouldn't be mentioned in front of journos. He talks about the control Fergie has at United and he would like the same at City some day but as I've tried to point out above, all managers have to live within their means, and Mancini's are more than adequate.

He's increasingly becoming like a spoilt fucking child if you ask me. He's the most privileged manager in world football and half the time he acts like he's carrying a poison fucking chalice .

I sometimes think he plays on Abu dhabis, and cooks, lack of football experience.

In his defence, he will most likely be sacked if he doesn't win the league this year.

What you hear isn't a spoiled manager, he's a desperate manager. This season is probably the most important of his career. It's his second top-flight club after having been sacked at the first. If he wins the league he will likely have all the control he desires and two years worth of breathing room; a loss will mean he's back in Italy looking for a job at a 3rd-6th place club.

I just fear the day might come when Mancini gets pissed off with the board and leaves.

that and the fact this is probably one a the biggest seasons in the clubs history coming up!??!?! we have to be fighting for the title, but more importantly the whole football world will be watching to see how you do in the champions league? if we fuck that up ie group stages and out then we will still be looked at as lickle old city!!! he knows the pressure hes under but hes only asking for what we all know he needs!!! even if he just got nasri then its a backup/top player along side silva.

I think he has this plan and it means everything to him, of course he wants the players he feels he needs to carry out that plan.
I agree with him we have fucked about when getting in players. I said very early in the summer we should get in get it done and out. We then relax and have a good pre season getting the squad ready. I suppose the tevez saga with have caused some disruption to the situation mind.
Anyway it looks like nasri is done so we may only miss him for one game so it's now down to bob to get cracking at a tilt at the prem title, looking at the back end of last season I am very confident.I just hope last Sunday wasn't a pointer cos I think he slipped back in to Italian mode and as we all know it just does not work in the prem and with these players we should really be hammering teams.one nils do bugger all for my ticker.

Nothing wrong in wanting the tools for the job when keeping the job depends on it.

Surely his point isn't that he's not getting the players he wants but that the strategy before the summer was to get them in asap so the whole team could train together, go to America, to Dublin, and have some time to gel.
It's quite clear from last year's signings that new players can't always slot seamlessly into the team, they actually need to get to know one another in training. And with a very busy fixture list, that process is slower and players have to recover from injuries/have to rest etc etc
Unless I've misunderstood, Mancini thought Cook and Marwood were going to get him his players early, and they've not managed that, hence the moaning.

The one thing im worried about with this press conference is that mancini should have come out and said kompany is the new captain this season but he never he just said when corlos plays you will see. Im sorry but if tevez keeps the captaincy it will be criminal a player that doesnt want to be there (obviously he will give his all on the pitch thats not in question) but u cant give it to him surely
