Mancini you are gutless

Well i guess OP was writing this just after watching the slightly disappointing match, and therefore i won't be to hard on him, as we all had hoped for more.

That said, i do disagree with the people that want Mancini out. The way to set up a winning team long-term, is to start from the back, getting the organisation right, and when that has happened, you can be more creative upfront, and loosen up some of the midfielders duties, and also give the LB and RB more freedom to help out offensively. Thats the way Chelsea and Inter did it anyway, and that certainly has worked out well for them....

I trust Mancinis ability to make this work, and i'm also happy about the fact, that he is trying to get a lot of top quality young players in, instead of buying players on the decline. IMO he's doing all the right things for the long run.

However i do agree that, yesterdays match was beyond boring, and so have a lot of the matches under RM been. Please start gelling soon, so we can stay awake for more than 20 min a game please. :-)

If RM had gone for it last night and got beaten i would have said fair play to him.....i cannt stand this over cautious way of playing....one point or no points, there is hardly a difference in the end.......yes utd would have gained 3 pts on us...bt we could very well have gained 3 pts on them....however with the team he sent out last night the chances of that were very very slim....and then to invite utd on in the second half was almost suicidal!!!

So i suppose last season you was happy with Bellamy for trying to win the derby by playing a ridiculous long ball across field instead of keeping the ball and settling for a point. That point would have meant we'd have gone into the Spurs game only needing a draw and not to win and you're trying to tell me one point or no points mean little in the end. One point less if we went for it and got beat would have also meant United gained 3 on us, honestly Simon thats a ridiculous post

We largely agree then, GStar.

I also agree that sacking him now is fraught with danger.

The only viable option we really have as a club is to soldier on till the summer in the hope that we scrape fourth place. It would be unforgiveable not to get that with these players.

But then we've got to look at our options very seriously indeed.

scrape 4th? we're walking it.

only a fool would predict what happens between now and the end of the season.

you're reacting far too early.

What do you mean "I'm reacting too early"?

I've just said we have little choice but to wait until summer and take a view.

It was frustrating to watch for sure. But they were just as guilty as we were hoping that we would go for it and leave the gaps for them to break our hearts with the sucker punch yet again.

Yes we've sometimes beaten them comprehensively in the past when we've had a go but then that has been the highlight of our season with little else to boast about for way too long.

So if thats what it takes to finish in the Top 4 and progress as a club then I guess I'll take that over the other option.
Ahh common sense!

As I walked out last night I said to my mate (who was pissed off) that we had beaten them with worse teams and finished 12. I would much prefer two draws against them and a comfortable top 4 finish.

Which means...?

You sais in your post that we have to endure Mancini untill the summer, But then we've got to look at our options very seriously indeed, even if we get fourth.

It's a mistranslation of what I said, but I'll let that ride.

So where did I say we sack Mancini?

He would get your support?

Um, okay, it seemed as though you had already taken a view, that he will do no more than 'scrape' 4th, and that this will barely be acceptable.

In my opinion, and based on the evidence before me, I think this season is going to be about a chase for 4th spot, like last season. Which would represent no progress.

He might turn it around and get us winning every week of course. But I feel less hopeful of this now than I did a few weeks ago.

The only thing I'll add here however, is that the gap between 4th and 1st might be less this year than last. Furthermore, the gap between us and Chelsea last season at the end was 19 points. I don't expect it to be that much this year. So that will be progress. But I echo your point about 4th itself should not be the target. We should be aiming for 1st/2nd and then top 4 takes care of itself

Don't you think that finishing 4th. with a much less points difference would be considered progress? I do.

He always has my support as do the players.

At the end of the season I will, as always, have an opinion as to whether he is the right man for the job.

The only person i would ever replace RM with is Mourinho, any other is a risk.

I predict that unless we win the league you will continue to berate him.
