we seem to have gone from the "most patient fans in the world" to the exact opposite.

Do people really expect us to win something every year? Are people that arrogant and unrealistic.

That is why football is better than any other on this planet...because it is so unpredictable......the best team doesnt always win.

Wenger hasnt won anything for 7-8 seasons yet he is still at arsenal...

I expect us to compete every year for everything and we have.....

we are unexperienced in europe and came up against 2 very very good teams in madrid and dortmund.......i wouldnt have expected us to get through that group

we messed up in the league cup by trying to play a weaker team but lots of managers to do that and sometimes it works to a point other times it deosnt therefore i dont think its particularly right to hold this against mancnini

as for the league...it isnt over yet (I know we havent got a chance of catching utd) but we are still second......we havent managed to defend our title but we will try and win it back next year.......and the year after that and the year after that...we might get it we might not but id happily keep mancini for the next few seasons regardless because i know that he has had us playing the best football ive seen in watching city for over 30 years......

Being in the CL is different to competing in it. An inexperienced side like Dortmund and Malaga who are both in the quarters.

As for competing for the title we have competed in a similar way to Fulham have this season.

Sadly i suspect he'll leave at the end of the season thanks to the same ***** who drove the prodigal son away.

The only person to blame is himself for his shite signings and tactics this season.

We're second but thats hardly anything to shout about considering the investment and the squad of players we have available, we should be much closer to 1st place than we are now. We've had an easy ride in the Fa Cup luckily playing three championship sides, great if we win it and will bring some light at the end of a poor season but we still are a long way from winning it.

Just my speculation but if i was to give Bobbie a brief at the start of the season it would have been something like this.

Retain the title or at least be in contention right to the end. ( Failed )
Progress to the 1/4 finals of the champions league ( Failed )
Demonstrate continuous improvement on the pitch ( Failed )
Develop and strenghten the squad ( Failed imho )
Contend for the Fa or League cup ( on track )
Develop players from the youth team ( Failed )

Doesn't look good and i am a supporter of Mancini, i don't want to see him go but i can't see anything other than a change now.

You were expecting improvement from a very high base

In my view the squad is stronger, but injuries have disrupted our team when we got off very lightly last season.

And in common with the rest of this topic, nearly all the contributors fail to analyse our weakness this season, which is scoring goals, and the reasons for it.

I don't think we can expect to challenge for the title with two fit forwards, one of whom everyone expects to leave at the end of the season.

That's the reason we are struggling now - the forwards we have available the fact that Dzeko appears to be unsettled and moving on

I do agree that injuries have not helped us his year, Aguero, Kompany and maybe the most underestimated absence has been Richards. Silva has looked like he is playing with a knock and we have again struggled with losing Yaya.

We are scoring less goals and converting less chances, but for me this is because last year our system threw teams, it took 6 months for teams to realise they had to pack the midfield to stiffle us and as such we had a lot more freedom and the oportunity to create chances. My issue is that even though this is plain to see nothing seems to be changing. this will be Bobbies biggest mistake.

But the rest of the brief i would stand by, for me the squad is no better than last year and the fact the Dzeko lookks so disinterested is down to Mancini's man management.

Thats because they sell there best players every season yet he still manages to qualify from CL groups and gets them top 4 finishes.
