Do you believe Soriano had any input in Mancini's new deal last Summer? I know it was signed before he arrived but surely he would've been briefed on it?

No. Why would Soriano agree to giving a manager he's never worked with a new 5 year contract before he's even started his job.

I find it odd that he wouldn't be at least briefed on it.

Maybe, maybe not. The main point is that the last thing we'll have wanted is any managerial issues when a new CEO was taking office. Bob had just won the league so the deal was a no-brainer at that point. The deal will have break clauses based on performance anyway.

What does that mean ?

For me, although I see the point you're making, I don't see how it has any relevance to anything. Soriano is now in charge of contracts along with Txiki on the playing side. Either he did Mancini's deal or he didn't. Since he didn't work at City at the time, and that deal will have been constructed over a period of time, I can't see what he could've had to do with it other than being told by Khaldoun "Mancini's won the league, we're giving him a new deal".

I was out for a nice meal over Easter and after a perusal of the menu I decided on -

Grand Reserve Tees-Valley Beef Fillet, Triple Cooked Duck Fat Chips, Beef Bourguignon Salad, Red Wine Jus. It was pricey at £25

Sorry sir we have none available.

So I went back and picked -

Roast Rump of Faceby Lamb, Confit Shoulder & Seared Liver, Spring Pea & Mint Puree, Young Carrots & Rosemary Jus. Not as expensive but still £16

We sold the last just now.

Third time - Fillet of Northern Sea Trout, Jersey Royal, Chorizo & Purple Sprouting Broccoli Fricassee, New Seasons English Asparagus, Warm Caper & Tarragon Dressing at £16

It ended up being a very nice piece of fish but I was rather disappointed in the fact that its not what I wanted.
Very good :)

I think it comes down to how we finish the season and what Mancini's attitude is like in this final run of games. I think he's in danger of losing his job but i dont think he's out just yet.. All comes back to the fact for me though that he wasn't appointed by the Spaniards

=============================
Correct... he was appointed by the boss.... FFS!
The 'Spaniards' are like he... employees.

Yes but the Spaniards will make the decision on Mancini's long term future. It's denial on a pretty grand scale to try and pretend that Mansour's hired these two guys but will decide on Mancini himself. Much like the nonsense about Mario being Mansour's favourite player and therefore the decision to sell him being his and his alone. But hey, whatever helps you feel better about the situation. As Blusterin' Bob (the poster not the manager) would say, it is what it is.

They will certainly have an input on Mancini's future; but the decision will be made by the CEO/MD/Chairman or indeed RM himself (which I believe will be the case should he leave).

Not sure of the relevance of Mario to this discussion? He may well have been his favourite player? I have no idea.

Help me feel better about the situation? Again, Not sure what you are getting at? I'm 'good' with the situation... I've followed City for 45yrs and glad to remind you that we are reigning champions, having won the FA cup the season before, with a good chance to win it this season. Something I never thought I would live to see.

The ridiculous thing in this whole debate has been the 'dumbing down' of the possible replacements. Mourinho I could understand; and Dave will tell you I have always said this... Even Pep I could understand... But Pellegrini, De Boer, Bielsa, Wenger et al... Ridiculous suggestions; and I'm surprised that anybody could be trying to justify these guys as any improvement upon RM. Even you Billy! ;-)

However, as I said, I've been a blue a long time, seen a lot of shit and therefore have a thick skin and an unwavering support for the club... so I will support whoever who is in charge...

What will their input be then ?

Not sure of the relevance of Mario to this discussion? He may well have been his favourite player? I have no idea.

The relevance is simply that all through the autumn this board was awash with people saying "only Sheik Mansour will decide Mario's future - he understands what Mario brings to City". In the end it was a footballing decision taken by the technical staff, just as Mancini's future will be decided in that manner.

Help me feel better about the situation?

I've put those two together because you've answered your own question. So you think the only viable candidates to replace Mancini are Mourinho and Pep. It doesn't follow that the people who run the club will feel the same. If anything it's clear that Begeristain isn't afraid of making a big decision and hiring a seeming novice or someone who seemingly doesn't have the cache of the likes of Mourinho.

As for your "dumbing down" comment - i honestly i find it pretty dumb that anyone could assert that Pellegrini, De Boer, Bielsa, and Wenger are ridiculous suggestions. That to me shows the insecurity I'm talking about (one which btw has permeated through this thread). All those managers for various reasons are suited to City. They may not have Mancini's trophies, but they have many qualities which Txiki/City would be looking for.

On the subject of Mancini walking of his own accord. I'm curious as to why this is held up as such a great thing. So lets say that he does walk this summer of his own accord - then what? The list of potential replacements doesn't change just because he's left of his own accord. And there's the rub. You're offended at the discussion of certain names, but you also think it's highly possible that he'll walk.

Dumbing down of replacements!?

If, as I do, you think that there is a good chance that Mancini will leave, discussing replacements is appropriate and given that Mourinho and Klopp, for instance, look unlikely to be heading to the Etihad in the summer, other possibilities would seem worthy of debate.

If you Bobby is certain to stay, you won't think much of such debate. I think there is a good chance of Bobby staying and I am actually quiet relaxed about that; I just think the probability of him going is slightly higher than him staying.

I completely disagree with you that people like Wenger and de Boer are ridiculous suggestions; other than in the context that Wenger might well not be willing to come to City, especially to work under a DoF. I'm damn sure that if Wenger did come to City, we'd rapidly become the most entertaining team to watch in the country with a very strong chance that he would once more become a trophy winning manager.

If you think that the idea of Txiki appointing de Boer is far fetched, you would be dismissing what he has done in the past as a pointer to what he might do in the future.
