Manners

I thought we were all equal though? You should hold doors open for both sexes out of common courtesy. Sure I always go to the bar if I'm out with the missus, or my mum, but that's not manners, that's because I'm scared of them.
You mustn't be scared of me then ya tight ****; )

More hardfaced than a fuckin' Brillo Pad: /

No not at all I always pay my way. Just think sometimes good manners are forgotten in the whole sexist thing

Some men still actually stand up when a lady comes into the room and walk on the outside of the pavement
I think good manners are increasingly important In this discourteous world. Some might seem a little old fashioned. I would draw the line at standing up when a woman enters the room (other than the Queen When she visits), the other things you mention I would do instinctively. You do run the risk though. I occasionally get daggers thrown at me when I hold the door open for a female. Tbf, I hold the door open for blokes too. The world is bad enough, if we can just show a little respect in our face to face interactions whats wrong with that.

I always hold doors open for everybody and give way. At my local corner shop, when I hold the door for local kids after school, they pour thru without a word. So I say loudly: " Thank you". They still don't get it.

I go with “don’t mention it”, works better!

Must take you forever to do your shop.

You’re welcome.

You have no idea what I had to trade with the devil for that. No problem. Not a worry. My pleasure. Don’t mention it. It was nothing. Nothing makes me happier. Happy to help you. You are so welcome. Welcome, anytime. Anytime you need help, ask me. I am glad it helped you. I’ll count on your vote for the next election. I’m sure you’d have done the same for me. You’re welcome. You would have done the same if you were in my shoes. Sure. I’m happy to be of assistance. Happy to be of service. Sure thing. No big deal. The feeling is mutual. That’s why good friends do. I’m glad that you’re satisfied. You’ll get my bill by the morning. Oh, stop it, you! The invoice is on the way. You deserve it. It’s just a token of my appreciation. After all, it was my privilege. It was my honour to have helped. I’m just returning a favour. Let me know if I can help you in the future.

If only you had said thank you.
Judging by your username you're from Acton, London ?

If so it's no wonder you've bumped a thread on manners! Londoners (in general) are some of the most unfriendly and ignorant people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. I remember one lovely spring morning I was just getting the gear out of my van in a posh suburb in West London and I I said "good morning pal, lovely weather today". He looked at me as though I was an idiot ghost. What a miserable ****.

Manners and being polite and friendly cost nowt. I hated working in London, It's nowhere near like it is in the north west. Decent.
