Mansour and Khaldoon's targets

Us fans can yearn for the eternal residence of Mancini but it won't happen. If Mancini doesn't win the CL this year, odds are that he's going to be fired. Football managing is such a contrived and competitive business. There's never sympathy in business. It's all about money.

Oh my God.Talk about an over reaction to losing one game of football.

So he has never won the Champions league...and? I hope our owners back Bobby to the hilt.

I was gutted the other night but people are stating and I quote "the adventure was good" "it was always going to be a learning curve" yet we still have one game to go. Why are some blues so defeatist! Our owners are here for the long haul and I just ignore the hyped up media now.

Any journo who still thinks we will fail FFP are clearly deluded.

I would love it,just love it if we qualify. Imagine all the media twats having to eat their words and retreat back into their holes!!!!!!!

I think it's naive to say that. As Prestwich Blue has stated the Champions League will be our main priority long term purely for financial reasons. If Mancini shows he can't cut it the CL over the next couple of seasons we may have to look else where like Inter Milan did

That's rubbish mate. He wasn't sacked for that. And we are not Inter.

The official reason they gave regarding Mancini's dismissal was their continued failure in Europe despite lifting 3 consecutive league titles. Whilst I'm disappointed that City may crash out of the Champions League without even qualifying from their group, I don't feel this would be a valid reason for us to get rid. It's all about perspective because 3 League titles are sufficient for a Club still progressing.

How many points do posters think will be needed to win the title?

The point he makes stands though.

To me it's quite a fanciful notion that the CL will never matter as long as Mancini wins PL titles. No question over the next couple of seasons winning the league title will be the priority - but ultimately what Sheikh Mansour wants is the biggest, best, football club in the world. If you don't win the European Cup you're simply not even in the same league as the likes of Barca, Madrid, Milan, etc... so he's not going to accept if come three or four years from now (which would be how many years into his tenure as owner?) we haven't won it, that that's ok.

That said, this season it's a complete irrelevance.

The official reason given was over his resignation then change of heart after going out of the CL to Liverpool. Moratti was upset that he would consider walking out half-way through a season.

I assume they approached Mourinho at that point and once they'd tied him down, they could afford to tell Mancini to piss off.

History tells us that around the 90 mark should do it. We just need to keep on doing what we are doing and not lose focus.

-- Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:29 pm --

Could you imagine Bobby being sacked though after he has just delivered 3 league titles on the bounce and getting to the QF stages of the champs league?

you assume wrong.

this is the post liverpool game press conference , less than a minute

you may or may not understand italian language so either you ask for anybody to help you or you have to believe me.

in that video mancini said :

""despite i'm on a 4 years contract i "believe" the next 2 and half months will be my last months as inter coach. and this not becouse this night defeat. anyway i hope we (the team) will do well and will win the serie A title""

this was a sort of vendecta where in world vision mancini want let everybody "understand" that him already knew that moratti had already (in december , at Paris) signed mourinho

Getting to the QF's would be just about OK I reckon. But if he lost out in the group stages or last 16 a few times then he would be quietly told his contract wouldn't be renewed. But given his actions at Inter, he wouldn't need to be told that anyway.
