We'll struggle to bring through youth players from the CFA even if they're of high quality if the fans expect them to be instantly top class in the PL.
We've never had fans that get on young players back though have we ?

I don't know if our support is worse in this regard than other team's but one thing that has pissed me off in the many years of being a season ticket holder at City is the need of our supporters to scapegoat one of their own players. IIRC, Joe Corrigan, Paul Power and Kevin Bond got the treatment and subsequently went on to be our player of the year in later seasons.

You can add Shaun Goater to that list

my thoughts are on rotation, which i believe you should NEVER do in the prem.

with vinny injured, which was unavoidable, we are of course reduced by a large part of our defensice capability. why then weaken it further by leaving zab out? we have martin, thats fine, then mangala who has had a mare since signing and clichy with one good game in twelve months.
our opponents look at us and see a squad of champions, they must be wary of our stregnth and ability. we then lose silva and they are bouyed. once they see vinny out then are really buzzing and fancy their chances. what do we do? weaken OURSELVES even further. the opponents now smell blood, if only that it looks like we are taking the piss thinking we can still win with three of our best players missing.
their manager doesn't even need a team talk ffs.

knowing that most of the time the ref will be after us we simply dare not take any game for granted, not in the prem at least.
That was my issue as soon as I saw the selection on Saturday, and we were further weakened by putting Nasri in front of Clichy, rather than Milner. Had we been playing Bayern this Tuesday I could maybe have seen the point, but no, its an international break.

No he isn't, he's played 8 games, and has come to the PL from Portugal, has rarely had the same partner to the left or right of him. Give him a f**king chance.

Not to mention sod all protection in front of him!

In typical Blue Moan fashion, the criticism of Mangala has been vastly overdone. He needs time to adapt to the change of leagues and that task has been made much the harder by the performances around him. He is also part of a defence whose team's tactics place major demands on its centre backs.

The high fee we paid for him will not guarantee a smooth transition. Terry Henry was a high profile signing for Arsenal and went on to become a candidate for the best ever EPL player but he struggled when he first arrived in England. There are just no hard and fast rules for how quickly a player will settle in at a new club.

I think the guy has bags of potential but I have no idea if he will fulfill it.

Unfortunately he reminds me of Savic, another player who I thought might have done well but had the confidense knocked out of him by constant criticism.

This isn't a confidence issue its just a young player adjusting to a very difficult league!

MP is a great guy, a true gentleman. Probably great listening skills too. I also think he gets along very well with TB and FS. He also appears to be a very pragmatic person, and I am sure in his vast career he has learned which battles to fight, and which not. And he is just too old to change, maybe a bit too stubborn too, despite pragmatism.

What he did last year was just minor fine tuning, and it worked. Everybody was pleased, and he was probably looking forward to applying the same formula again, only this time it's not working. More than a few players appear demotivated, tactics is not working, and if not for occasional moments of brilliance, results would have been even worse. There is no plan B, and he is probably under strong directives from DoF as to what type of play to develop (possession based, slow build up), as it's the system that suits Silva and Aguero, and it's also TB and FS's comfort zone, due to their background.

And MP, being a pragmatist, smart, experienced, and paid enough not to go against his bosses, is not doing any drastic changes. But it's not working and there are no signs that things are improving. I think he knows he will not be fired so easily, as it would send a wrong message to Peps and Klopps of this world. And they do not need to scapegoat him, as they probably have too much credit with the Arabs and feel secure.

So, both MP and the duo are just buying time, and there will probably be some sort of 'soft' exit at the end of the season, to appease the media and make room for the new guy. Pep is ideal, (although personally I hate to watch his teams, even managed to f..k up Bayern), but not sure if he will be willing or available. I would love to see Klopp, but he just does not fit in - different style of football, excessively strong willed...

But one thing is sure, it will not be boring, and that's what's all about.

All we need to do is get our injured players back..

With Vinnie, Dave and Kolarov back we will be like a new team..

The season starts with the Swansea game..

You read it here first..

It's not like they've been out most of the season.

Whether you think its irrelevant is or not is meaningless. It's a well proven fact, players take a season to find their feet in the prem. Whether we should have bought him is another matter entirely, but to say he is shit as some have done here based on 8 or so performances is ridiculous. It's also ridiculous to say its all Pellegrini's fault.

Well luckily for me i have neither said that he is shit or blamed it on Pellegrini

What I have done is said that if you are going to spend so much of your budget on one player, then you better make sure you couldn't spend it wisely elsewhere

It's like going on a night out with £20, and spending your first £8 on a swanky cocktail that tastes like shit, when you could have got a pint for £3.50 :)

I'm not saying Mangala is worth the £32 million, its far too early to tell but Isn't that exactly our problem. Rather than spending money on a few swanky cocktails like Hazzard and Sanchez we've filled up on pints and now we don't like hangover or the oversize beer belly we're stuck with.

Just a few points about Mangala - probably already been made but thought I'd (inadvertently) repeat to express my opinion. Mangala is (in my view) a very, very good defender with bags of potential. His best games have come when he's had Kolarov in front of him. This is because Clichy bombs forward more than Aleks and leaves him more exposed. Factor in that Gael is going through a fucking awful spell at the moment, it magnifies any deficiencies between him and Managala. Aleks played in Moscow and unfortunately he had a nightmare - no fault of Managla's. Now that he is injured and Gael is still struggling for form (the game against the rags aside) we've got a problem there.

So in short, I think we can relax about Mangala as he has the potential to become a world class centre half and I hope his partnership with Vinnie will become a rock solid foundation to build on.

What needs to happen is for Pellers to say "I tell you what Gael, fuck it, stay back and don't worry too much about attacking we'll work something different."

What will happen - if we take MP's quotes at face value - is the sum total of fuck all. If that is to happen, our left hand side will continue to be pillaged and we're gonna be looking at a struggle to finish top 4.

Now you can argue that I'm a fuck wit and MP knows better, but this is something a succession of opposition managers have spotted and MP has steadfastly refused to look at it and address it.

Now then, at what point does (the necessary) belief in what you are doing become stubbornness and then downright stupidity for sticking with it for too long? Are we confident MP knows where the borders are between each of those and if he does, will he spot them and do something about it?

Possibly over analysing things, after all it's just a poxy game isn't it?!
