Manuel Pellegrini

What a fantastic first season. He has quietly gone about his work and when you hear his comments about the season you can tell why the players have stepped up this season. Despite what was mid-table form in our away games at the start on the season, he told the players to trust him, trust his systems and tactics and believe in themselves. They did. It clicked. We have been brilliant both home and away since. Chelsea and Sunderland our only blips at home. Liverpool defeat and a draw at Arsenal and Southampton the only other away stumbles. Injuries and lack of squad depth meant rotations when the big games came thick and fast in the turn of the year - Wigan in the Cup was a step too far. We respected Barcelona when we should now show why we are to be respected. We allowed them to play their game, when we should now play our own. With a few player acquisitions; and Pellegrini has said we will look to strengthen and work will begin tomorrow on that; we will be able to rest our key players and still handle the big games in all competitions.

This was a season of transition for many. The Rags dropped off. Chelsea slipped up regularly. Arsenal lost a few players and collapsed. We stayed strong. A league trophy and the league cup double. If we start next season as we have finished this, if we play as well away from home - we will be very tough to derail. But let's forget about next season for a while - it's been a long and tough journey and we did it! Congratulations to the players and thank you Pellegrini for pulling it all together.

Been a long season. A lot of people said it would go to the last day and it did. I really believe Pellegrini's man management has been crucial. Both in getting the best out of individuals, but also in doing whatever the fuck he did to keep the group so focussed after Sunderland.

They've all earned all the plaudits that come their way. Now lets see what this fight with UEFA does for the summer ...

without doubt his greatest asset. he has remained classy even when it went wrong here and there. loved that story that he only really lost his temper (as we all did) after the wigan game, yet not a peep of it in the press. the leaks we had under mancini seems to have dried up thank god.

Whatever's been said between posters on the forum this season, we all more than anything wanted to win the league and Pellegrini's delivered that. I don't think there'll be a Blue anywhere in the world who isn't absolutely made up for him and more than a little proud that he's taken his first major European trophy with us.

In a way just calling him a man manager is a big disservice. He's a proper football man who's team play proper football. We'll be better again next season IMO. I'd expect us to get to at least the semi's of the CL and retain the PL.

Providing we're not completely hamstrung by this FFP bullshit over the summer we'll retain the league next season I have little doubt. We could do it with all the same players providing we're not forced to sell anyone, but Txiki and Pellegrini will know all the chinks in the armour, and which ones we can feasibly address in one window. If you just think with a stable CB pairing (though our defensive woes have been hugely over blown this season), another quality central midfielder and a season fit Aguero.. If we manage to get Fabregas (though I'm not getting my hopes up) that's it. You've got back up for Silva and Yaya all in one, and we rarely loose both at once.

Just have to cross all fingers and toes FFP doesn't lead to a similar stagnation as we experienced after the last league win. I can't imagine management are about to make the same mistake twice (well, largely new management, but you know what I mean), providing the choice isn't taken away from them by some bell end at UEFA.

The scousers thought the title was won,

Then Manuel came,
This Charming Man,

He brought us calm and the Capital Cup
Then the Chilean won us the Premier League"

I imagine a lot of posters have never been so happy to look so foolish, even a few weeks ago there were Mourinho posts and people writing him off. Chuffed for him, imagine every rival talking about your team week in, week out and the only response you dignify them with is a Premier League trophy come May.

I hope Brendan has been taking notes on how to behave. And you Jose.

My god man.. I actually agree with you.. ;)

It wont last,it wont last it, wont last. :)

I like to think I'm a pretty stand up guy outside of the Dzeko thread.

Im sure you are fella..
