Maradona, truly the best player on this planet so far

Lets compare old sports to new.

You know the American swimmer, Mark Spitz? In the 70s he set about 7 world records for swimming and was easily considered the best ever. Did you also know that high school kids in America can now regularly get very close to his times?

Sport today has improved vastly. If these old players were born today maybe they'd stand a chance, but if you consider the ability they actually had it is definitely nowhere near modern players. There is no doubt at all in my mind that Messi is the best ever. He will probably be eclipsed at some point in the future too, when we evolve even more.

If you're talking about athleticism and stamina, as todays sports men/women get much more advanced conditioning, diet plans, and benefit greatly from sports science technology and equipment, then I would agree, but if you're saying top players in the past had vastly less ability and talent compared to today's top players is wrong.

imagine maradona today with the sports science and fitness and diet plans ,he would piss on any footballer that there has ever been.

messi is amazing, ronaldo is quality as well(just cant stand the slimy fucker)

its amazing that some of the best players ever have come from Argentina

maradona
messi
zabba

A fit never on cocaine Maradona in that barca side would have achieved everything Messi has done but would have done a hell of a lot more internationally too. Messi and tranny while obviously truly manificent players have always had their numbers skewed by playing the eqivilent of Brasil 1970 vs Norwich 1993 most weekends.

That's the thing for me when comparing the old with the new, Maradonna or Pele with sports science behind them would piss all over Messi and Ronaldo, they just did it their way without a great deal of help or science behind them and look what they achieved. Yes we have as a spieces evolved but surely the playing surfaces, boots etc make a huge difference. Messi or tranny have never won the World Cup, Maradona in 86 was unbelievable, taking away the hand of god he was is best player I've seen on the international stage, didn't get to see him week in week out like Messi who is truly outstanding, but for me until Messi wins the World Cup I'd go for Maradona.

Was still crazy to see him In the stands supporting city and singing along to some of the chants.

I just hope one day I can see a player as good as him in an England shirt.

South America are like a conveyor belt when it comes to producing that world class 1v1 soloist player though.

I firmly believe if he had not be so unfortunate with injuries that he would as highly regarded as the likes of Pele, Maradona; a lot more so at least.

We already did his name was Ricky 'Amazing' Lambert. Now he washes Balo's car in exchange for game time.

I agree Ronaldo was the best there is. If he lost a few pounds he might still give CR and Messi a run for their money now.

not a chance. they have something in them that an england player never will. poverty. their only way out of some of the slums is football and their drive comes from deep within their chest. everything is handed to our kids and once older our youngsters just sign on.

Maradona was magic. The thing that sticks out for me now watching old footage is how he was kicked all over the show but more often than not stayed on his feet. I watched that clip and neynar wouldn't get past 5 seconds before he would have completed three double axels.
