The issue we’ve got, that football has, is that once again the selling club demanding an outlandish fee is vindicated and can do it again in the future as can any other club.

Transfer fees will only get worse from here!

Fact is a valuation, of anything, can be defined as a sufficient price that can be agreed between a buyer and seller.

If Chelsea are willing to pay it then it proves Brighton were correct to ask for it.


Personally I think it's too much but every transfer is a roll of the dice. Only time will tell.

That’s a bit over simplistic. A club paying a certain fee for a player doesn’t make it “the going rate”.

We’ll see. The market doesn’t seem to be getting cheaper.

Yes. Brighton only increased the fee so high once those twats started sniffing around because they wanted a bidding war. If we just quietly got on with business and offered them closer to their expectations from the beginning we may have been able to negotiate a reasonable deal to strengthen a position we desperately need.
