Marc Cucurella

How do you know Cucurella is not a gem? You're also omitting Foden and Grealish in that 2 years ago one was making his way and the other wasn't here...I think a front 6 of Haaland, Mahrez, Foden, Grealish, Alvarez and Palmer with Bernardo also an option is plenty good enough...would i object to one more attacking player coming in...absolutely not, but who?...and not if it means we don't get a LB or replace Ake (if he were to go)...who are we talking about?
Leao, Antony, Gnabry, Zaniolo, Felix, Oyarzabal, Diaby?...Would someone like Bowen or Olmos fit the bill?...thoughts?...
Not trying to pick a fight. I think if he was a gem we would already have signed him a la Grealish. But obviously if we do sign him I hope he’s great.... although like most he will need a season to bed in.
Yes but as I said, 2 of your front six are unproven as yet...,.,. and again most new players need to bed in. My point is if you put Raz and Jesus in place of Cole and Alvarez then we’re shit hot. So I would advocate buying someone but I don’t know who. Someone like Martial actually if he had the right attitude because he’s got enough about his ability to do well in our set up and can play along the front.
The variable we need to factor in is the World Cup - we just don’t know how this will affect things plus a very crowded programme. Obviously burn out is a factor with other teams but not many play the number we do. KDB played an insane number of games once he got fit.

Prices move! £25-30m is the price Notts Forest are paying for hopefuls from foreign leagues, in the hope they can stay in the league…. It’s not what clubs at the top end of said league have to pay for proven players. Also, who gives a shit what the price is? Our club couldn’t be better run, so if we pay whatever we pay, I’d be delighted if we get the player.
It’s not as simple as that though is it. By your logic how come the Dippers get top class front players like Jota and Diaz for around 70 million?
Why do we have to buy proven players? We brought players like Sane, Gundog, Torres, Jesus etc for pretty reasonable prices and none of them was a proven top class player in our league but Pep made them into top class players. so I’d like more of them especially at LB.
Besides if you get an expensive player in at LB where does Cancelo play? He wants to play all the time especially with the WC coming up.
Obviously it’s not my money and the club is well run

Been pretty obvious from the start we have been relaxed about this deal. The lad isn't going to go elsewhere. We wanted to get cash through the doors before we bought anyone and Brighton also want to secure a replacement.

Ake deal hasn't gone through yet, so our hands are tied.
If it does, then we can move pretty swiftly. Unless of course Pep sees a CB as the biggest issue.

That being said we also have the Sterling money coming and seems unlikely we will buy another attacker so the near 100m from Chelsea could be spent on Cucurella and a CB. Then we have next years transfer budget to go after someone like Bellingham and perhaps an attacker should Mahrez, Grealish, Alvarez, Palmer and so forth not step up.

Getting to be a waste of time and money. £50 million for a full back when we have Zinchenko and Cancelo and possibly Ake?
I've got no problem with Zinch as LB vying with Canceo. Who turned the Villa match? Ilkay was the hero but Zinch did the hard yards.
Plus we have Haaland!!!
If we're going to pay £25-30 mill then possibly. But no more.
To pay nearly £100 mill for Phillips and Cucurella for 2 squad players is madness.
Ok going with your logic then who is covering Walker at rb? We are a full back short and this area needs addressing

What does Ake have to do with Cucurella that would tie our hands?

The interest in Cucurella was reported months ago, long before we planned on selling Ake, possibly Sterling too for that matter. There is 200m coming in before Ake is sold, about 110 has been spent, with 2 free spaces in the squad, even if Ake is replaced or kept.

I get the logic of waiting for Brighton to sign a replacement, or waiting for them to rethink their asking price, or possibly waiting to maybe extend Zinchenko's contract first, who knows. I don't really get how Ake affects it, stay or go.

The noises around this deal have been strange since day 1. First we where apparently waiting for Sterling now pol is saying ake deal holding it up. Once Sterling is confirmed we have 2 squad spaces spare and have brought in huge fees as you rightly highlight.

Something about this deal just doesn’t seem right.

We were waiting for Jesus too before Sterling. Pol sounds like he has to keep his claim going now till it comes true at some point thn claim he was right all along
