In Jack Grealish case obviously our board thinks he worth more than just his footballing skill and why 100m is justified on him, the majority of our fans will not agree but our board is happy on what they got on Jack Grealish and did not consider overpaying it if our board did then City never bought him in the first place.

I wish people would stop using Ben White’s fee as the barometer. Firstly there was an “English tax” and secondly centre halves go for bigger fees than fullbacks generally.
.......but we had more cover at CB (and conveyor belt of them coming through/out on loan) so the value to us of Cucu is higher, because we can't say the same about LBs, particularly with his attributes and versatility. Cucu is also a better player (he must be, otherwise Pep wouldn't want him).

That will only be the case if he performs this season, big season for Jackie but gladly early signs are looking good.

Yes, I'm afraid so. It just goes to show that there are many factors in whether a transfer gets done or not. Objectively, Cucurella will be far more important to Brighton than he'll be to us. For us, he'll be a very useful addition (probably); for them, he's their best player. Unless there's a disastrous drop-off in form, or an injury, they can hold on to him for another year, and probably get the same money.
On the other hand, from his point of view: this opportunity will not come again. We are the best team in the land. This does not really need a lot of discussion. Liverpool are on our heels, but they are not at our level. Does Cucu want to miss this chance? We will almost certainly not wait a year.
That’s why you can be sure Cucu’s agent is doing his damnedest to get the fee down and the deal done.

I think Curcurella will have the thought that we might not come back if he doesn't move this summer so may push for it. We've shown before that we'll move on to the next on the list if we aren't successful. Eg Koullibally and Kane.

Ofc other teams may come in but we fit his style of play most.
