All the players in our squad were already known and playing for top clubs before we bought them (bar Zinchenko & Jesus) we don't unearth gems, that's what a world class scouting system does.

We currently find ourselves haggling over 10million for a LB who could have been scouted a year earlier. With all our Spanish/La Masia connections why wasn't Cucurella scouted before going to Brighton.
You seen the guys United buy? It's not as easy as just buying names people have heard of.

Cucarella should be that full back/wing back. Naturally left footed, fast, great passing and calm under pressure. Negotiating is the thing. 30m won't cut it. Dancing about for weeks serves no purpose to anyone re: preseason preparation. A decent honest bid, recognising Brighton's role in scouting, risk taking and 'proving' him in the Premier League and Bob's your uncle.
A decent honest bid? £30mill it is then.

If he is 50mil player will be interesting to see the wages they are offering him in the new deal they wanted him to sign

Player wants to come and all that is stopping it is the ego of a chairman (Bloom)

I've always said that there's nothing much wrong with Bloom's stance, really. Cucu's their best player. Yep, he doesn't have Spain caps and all the rest of it, but to them, he's worth his weight in gold.I understand that. For us, he's just another good player and if we don't get him it won't be vital to us.
Also, he will have weighed up all the factors like discouraging future recruitments of promising players. He will have weighed up the pros and cons.
No heroes and villains in this, whatever the outcome. It's only business.

They value him higher then us. It is what it is.

You've been told the ball park figure. An awful lot of whinging about a player not going to you for £30million proves you all rate him! Why the hesitation then. Pay the Brighton valuation, or can't you?

It staggers me how many people on here think our Club’s management team have no idea what they are doing. We have what is probably the best team managing the best run Club in the world.

If we havent signed a player to fill a particular hole in the squad it’s either about to happen and if doesn’t we will revert to plans B C and D (because these details will have already been discussed and planned for).

i don’t like us not having a specialist left back but Pep seems pretty relaxed about it, and as he knows a bit more about football than me, I’m not stressing about it.
Txiki and co do an overall amazing job but let's not pretend they don't mistakes as we all do. Not replacing Vinny the summer he left probably cost us a title imo. Similarly, going into a season with two senior fullbacks is a pretty big mistake and I hope we don't do that.

If true (and that’s a big ‘if’ given the source), I’m pleased our Club didn’t buckle and stood firm on our valuation - as I’m sure Brighton fans are theirs did the same.

We’ll move on and sign another left back - no bother. But this could end up being a Pyrrhic victory for Brighton, as it will damage the reputation they’re trying to cultivate of being a club exciting young players from across the world can thrive and show their talent at, and then be allowed their move to bigger and better.

Bloom is now showing he’ll block their move when they want it with ridiculous valuations - and that will have consequences beyond one transfer fee.

Cucurella’s agent looks like he’s developing quite an impressive portfolio of young Spanish players, and is clearly up and coming in the game.

I doubt he’ll take a player to Brighton again - nor will others in his position.

I’d still be surprised if we left him there after his TR, so I’m not convinced by the story - but I guess if we’ve decided their owner is a joker and impossible to deal with, he’s just going to have to get on with it!
Everyone saying this will effect future players from signing for Brighton, however they
Not sure of Cucurella has gone on strike. If he has, we should wait a bit more. Let Bloom's ego derail the entire Brighton preparation for start of the season. Brighton plays 5 PL games in August and if Cucu remains on strike for all of those games, we can get him on the deadline day for the amount we see reasonable.
It will still be £50m.

Brighton are making themselves look very small time.

Rather than ballooning over a pre ordained fee they should be cultivating a relationship with us.

We could cosy up. They give us dibs on future Cucarellas whilst we regularly send the best of our youth there for experience and game time, either on loan or with buy backs.

Noses being cut off just to spite faces the stupid cunts.
Brighton? we are the ones looking like dicks, we want the player, pay the fee or do one, easy.
