So we only rate him at 30 million or thereabouts so we want someone not as good. So we want someone worse than him but better at being a left back than Zinchenko who we sold for 32 million.

yep, so we rushed our CB back to cover right back because we are light at full back.

Now we are another player down so it’s going to mean Ake and Stones playing at fullback again.

6 first team defenders is complete mismanagement. 7 is still a big risk imo. We started last season with 8.

As I said, I do agree that we need another defender. The ONLY way we don't is if JWE is expected to be a full squad member, and could play 20-30 games if needed. Then 7 + Phillips is fine. I'd be surprised if that's what they're planning though.

But "shitting the bed" is a bit of an overreaction to a situation where we had one defender in prison, five injured, and another suspended. If you want to plan for that, then we need to free up some cash by paying people a lot less, reduce the fees we pay, up the squad to the maximum, and have a situation like United where expensive players sit on their arses all season, and grumble in the background.

I went to buy a car priced at £7250. . I offered £6500 because it was exactly what I needed. The dealer said offer £7249.99 and you still can’t have it because you won’t find anything for the same price and condition to match . I checked up and he was right - so I paid up and had 3 years very good motoring.Did I fret about the extra £750 - not one bit.

Personally I think we acted like arseholes on this.

What would you do if you checked up and found he was wrong and if you had £7250 to spend you could get better. Though as £7250 is stretching your budget more than you’d like you go and search for a car that suits your needs that you can get for your budget.

The league does start at the weekend but buying a lb in a panic won’t help. I’m sure the club will deal with this in a sensible and rational way… they usually do.

Good lord, I know he's a good player but is he really that good? Like so good that there are no other options out there to replace him? If that's the case then we are done! Totally abandoned and forsaken by the gods of football, throw 100m and Bernardo at Brighton and make this deal happen asap!

We are not after gomez and gaya. Our next target will be sosa and grimaldo. Grimaldo is cheaper. If we get them, for say ,25M we can sell them for 50-55M like we did Ferran and get a lot of profit. If you buy for 50M , you are pretty much reaching the ceiling already
