I think he'll do well as an impact player or someone who starts in the smaller games, as he's always trying to make a difference. He's still learning how to avoid getting bogged down in a physical battle with oppositions midfield (every french team has at least 2 Mohammed Diame's, usually 3 or 4) and needs to get into the pockets of space between the lines more often, as at the moment he only does it a few times a game, usually to great effect. He's still raw and hits sloppy passes, but I think that should sort itself out as he calms down and starts feeling he belongs.summerseat blue said:What i've seen of him he looks the business. My gut feeling was he would make it at City. Just had that wow factor that not many players have.

He has to imo. The 2nd half of his loan spell hasn't been good enough to get in City's squad & hasn't been as good as the kids here imo.
He should be put up for comparison with them pre season.
Yeah i'd agree with you. Although Neville does have a point, the second half of Lopes season have not been impressive unfortunately. Lopes is playing in Ligue 1, a very physically demanding league and playing in a Lille team that looks to me quite technically limited.
Our academy lads have been playing against players their own age and as soon as they cane up against two sides considerably bigger and stronger than them in United in the league and Chelsea in the Youth Cup they got battered.
I think Lopes needs another loan but to say he hasn't been as good as some of the academy lads is false in my opinion mate.
