Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

The bottom line is the lad wouldn't needed to have done fuck all if the Tories had from the outset declared no child would go hungry. They of course didn't because they don't give a single fuck. He embarrassed them into it and this new chapter to the same book will see them having to step up. The problem I have with that is they didn't think it important. Anybody having a go at the lad needs to answer why the party the support are a bunch of selfish heartless scum. Well done son.

On a slightly related note, I run a fundraising group called Help Club, our members donate £1 per week minimum and at month end we give it away to someone/cause/charity in need who has been nominated to us.

It’s normally around £400, and paid directly to the person who needs it, not a penny scraped off the top.

If anyone knows anyone struggling please look up the group on Facebook or PM me here. Same applies if anyone wants to join us as a member!

Without wishing to sound political, all i’ll say is our membership grew tenfold the day after the last general election.

Full marks to Rashford, he's using his position to help people and I'd happily applaud him if he played at the Etihad. Some things are far, far more important than football and children going hungry - in this day and age - just shouldn't be happening.

What I don't get is why the Government gave Rashford an MBE - presumably for his campaigning - then voted against what he was trying to do! It defies any kind of logic.

I just assumed that everyone wanted to help vulnerable people, especially children. Do those who voted against it have a pulse?

For what it costs, it shouldn't even be discussed. Children cannot help who their parents are and we should not - under any circumstances - punish them.

and nobody can foresee if they will be in dire straights 7-16 years down the line from the happiest day of your life. I think when Thatcher stole the milk in the 80s she took the milk of human kindness from some too.

I do so hope those giving it large about pissed up parents walk passed the homeless with the same sanctimonious attitude because i can guarantee some of you are a couple of random acts away from being on your arse too.

They just presumed he was out for himself, a nice pat on the back and an MBE to market himself and he would go out quietly. They cant quite grasp having principles and sticking to them, its an alien concept to these people.

The do gooders are again back out in force. Anyone who disagrees is a fascist Tory loving right wing blah blah blah.

Oh well. Let them get on with it. I'm out.

Oh those bloody do gooders! Trying to stop children going hungry!!! How dare they?

Why do they just have to do good? Whats wrong with ignoring people going hungry like a normal person?

even McDonald’s are now on board with this initiative which shows that even Ronald McDonald is less of a clown than Boris Johnson

This shows the true incompetence of the government because you're now seeing independent businesses realising the cost of providing a few million meals is worth the PR value.

And they're just trying to convince you to go to mcdonalds instead of kfc or burger King, not trying to win voters.

Councils back Rashford and pledge to provide school meals over holidays

Scores of councils have pledged to feed disadvantaged children over the school holidays as they joined a wave of public support for a campaign led by the England and Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford.

Amid growing outrage over the government’s refusal to extend free school meals in England next week, Conservative-controlled Kensington and Chelsea council and Birmingham city council, the UK’s biggest local authority, were among those stepping into the breach.

A groundswell of cafes, businesses, charities and community groups also said they would donate food during half-term next week and over the Christmas holidays, inspired by Rashford’s campaign to end child food poverty.

The 22-year-old’s Twitter feed highlighted a flood of offers to help amid the economic crisis caused by the Covid pandemic. His petition to implement a national food strategy had more than 500,000 signatures on Friday evening.

The government is understood to be preparing for a partial climbdown amid the row, with an expansion of children’s access to holiday activity clubs including meals.

Well this topic has properly shown what a bunch of horrible twats are in parliament.

Ben bradley getting pelters for his ramblings

Though my favourite commet is from this chap (sorry international businessman), just for the replies :-)

Well given the government ISNT paying for kids meals, Rashford’s taxes wouldn’t have helped would it. It would have helped pay towards cleaning Big Ben and Cummings council tax Bill though I guess. I mean how dare he use a completely legal taxation incentive and then subsequently pay millions of his own money towards feeding children. What a ****.
And painting that plane red white and blue.
At the behest of a PM who “doesn’t do gesture politics “.

Don't really rate him as a footballer but love that he is trying to hold this govt to account for this. Hope he keeps up the good work for a fairier and more humane society.
