Mario Balotelli

I love him, possibly more than anyother City player since Bell.

But i think we have to be cautious with him, he is still a kid and he will still make mistakes, be petulant, have shite games etc. Yet what we witnessed last night was a glimpse of his real potential, an insight into maybe in 3 or 4 years time will be a truly great footballer.

What I love most about Balotelli is he's HUMAN, he doesn't pretend to be perfect or this PR goody goody...

"When I score, I don't celebrate because I'm only doing my job. When a postman delivers letters, does he celebrate?"

Classic

The real Ronaldo was incredible from a very early age.

Watch him at PSV.

Mario will do very well to get half way to him.
Totally agree.
Pretty sure he went to Barca at the same time Shearer went to Newcastle. That's when he caught my eye. Phenomenal player and as you say, if Balotelli is just half as good we will have an out and out superstar on our hands.

Can you still gurantee us that he'll be at an average italian club in 5 years time?

Do you think he's talented yet?

Or still think 'he's shit'?

I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or flattered that you went to that trouble. Well done though, and it's not the first time you've done this.

Balotelli has a lot to do before he deserves the status many have given him already, that;s my opinion and I know i'm not alone in that. Performances like last night highlight what he can do, and if he does that more and more then i'll gladly relax my views on him. We all know though that with every performance like last night, there is a little 'what will he do next' niggling away in the background. Last night he looked like all he wanted to do was show his talent, and if he does that more and more well all the better for us and him.

I've made my mind up by the way. I feel flattered.

Both Mario's goals made ESPN's Top Ten Plays of the day here in America.

Most of the others were from Major League Baseball, but his header was 9th abd the shot was number ONE!

That's quite impressive in a country, where football is still a minority sport, at least as far as coverage goes.

Not too many I'd imagine make Neuer look average twice in the same game. :)

I wouldn't have thought so, Sam

"In that interview with Noel Gallagher, Mario was asked if he thinks he'll be the best player in the world and I cringed because he'll never be the best player in the world. His decision making can be poor, his balance is terrible, his passing is erratic, his effort levels can be questionable and his attitude can be unacceptable"

All the failings you listed can be corrected, they relate to technique and mental strength, not ability. whether these failings will be corrected is a matter for debate, but I would suggest that the indicators are good.
There is no doubt Mancini sees greatness in Balotelli and his frustration stems from Balotelli's inability to "harness" (direct and control) his great skill.
I can think of no better man than Mancini to mentor Balotelli and the indicators are that Ballotelli is beginning to realise it.

One game doesn't make him the best player in the world.

His goal against ROI made number 1 on their top ten plays of the day too. It is impressive. Far more thrilling than someone throwing a ball or someone catching a ball.

To be fair he's played pretty good all tournament
